It's not far off to compare Hitman to a movie - there's a cast of voice actors, millions of dollars are spent on set design, both run at 24fps, etc.
I know it's douchey to quote myself, but I kinda went on a long tangent in a different thread earlier that I think sums up what's going on re: DRM, and I don't feel like typing it again. I snipped some of the more rambly stuff. I've been... uh.. "out of it" today.
It's pretty crazy that when I was a kid obsessively nerding out over masterpieces like Chrono Trigger on my SNES, one day I'd associate Squaresoft OR Enix with this kind of bullsh*t.
It's kinda like how Polaroid inevitably went bust once smartphones became more common, then they were bought out by some crappy electronics manufacturer who put out third rate crap. They're selling some of the worst sh*t ever slapped w/ that well-known brandname as bait.
I honestly don't know much about what led to the Square Enix merger, so I dunno if it's just their new business model, or if there was basically a "hostile takeover". Squaresoft always seemed to have integrity, but I know that Japanese game companies can be insanely cutthroat - at least I gathered that from reading "Console Wars", that great book about Nintendo and Sega of Japan's 90s rivalry. Nintendo's always been like that - the whole NES lockout chip thing, basically monopolizing 3rd party developers, etc.
The game is fantastic. DRM and online is not a problem. It runs great and plays great.
Never had any problems.
- killing non-target NPCs while subduing them is annoying as hell
- sometimes when I load a save game NPCs can see me through walls
- several crashes (all during fist fighting)
I bought the 2 episodes only after Sapienza was released so I only experienced the non-working DX12 problem. That was fixed pretty quickly and now I only have some minor FPS drop - nothing that would prevent me from playing and having fun.
More time and effort is being put in to missions which I would prefer; I would want a mission that I can get at least 30 hours out of, which I have. (Trying to figure out all the ways, learning the map, completing the challenges etc) Compared to finishing it in half an hour max like in Blood Money. If it is such a huge deal then simply wait until the game is fully released. Problem solved.
I haven't had any problems with the game itself but DRM sounds like a bit of an issue for "some" players.
