This game is dead. Ask for a refund.
People with problems should all direct them to IOI, to let them know what a disastrous failure yesterday's patch is, so they can look into all the problems, and delusionally hope that they will be fixed before Sapienza...
The fact that it's so inconstent is really weird. People with crap performance are gaming smoothly now, while a lot of people who USED TO be able to play it suddenly can't run it. There's gotta be something wrong w it on a deep level.
I dont doubt that these issues will be fixed, possibly with a day 1 update for Episode 2. Seems like a few bugs that made their way thru in some cases. If it is wide-spread enough, they will see it for sure.
Dont forget also that they have a Twitter account and Facebook page. There are enough places for them to be contacted, and we all KNOW how the Internet is with complaining about bugs.
So far I have run into the shadow texture bug again, which I thought i fixed by updating my drivers a week ago (they were gone, but now back with the update). Its annoying, but not enough to make me angry.
My pickup loadouts disconnect me from the online server, and if they are collecting usage data, they should easilly see these mass disconnectects dealing with that specific thing.
While I am not a developer of desktop software, I am a NodeJS developer, and even in that, tracking down bugs that cause visible problems BUT DO NOT trigger any in-code errors or exceptions, can be hard to track. Most likely they have a revision system so they can look thru what they changed and correlate that with. Not an easy or quick task, ESPECIALLY with the weekend being here and PAX East happening right now. All of this comes together for just a very head-ache filled crunch time for all involved, the devs and the players.
Some stats to keep in mind: As of 2014, IO INteractive had 200 employees. Statistically, not all of them are game coders, many would also be 3D artists, texture artists, map designers, sound engineers, internal PR, accountants, game testers, web designers, etc. Their headquarters is in Denmark, and as of the time of this post, it is currently nearing 3:00 AM. Their testing group is probably small as well, and do not have the large amount of differing PC configurations that would be needed to fully catch all of these bugs. It is possible that their testing group just didnt run into these issues.
Before we all go off on how "this is a cluster ♥♥♥♥ of a release", let me just say 3 words, "Batman : Arkham Knight" :)
lol... it was a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ introduction to this game for me though, as I just started playing it last night.
Yikes, yeah, I can understand. I went into the Early Access of ROllar Coaster Tycoon World AND Planet Coaster, played them for like 30 minutes each and stopped because they just are not well baked enough for me to enjoy.
As someone who has been playing this HITMAN for the past month and streaming the hell out of it on my Twitch channel, I would suggest you give them a week. If you are still within your timelimit for getting a refund, dont turn the game back on. Wait for mentions on the discussions here for those bugs getting fixed, then try it again, at least enough to see if the bugs have lingered.
Im actually going to do a full reinstall of my copy just to be sure that it wasnt something that screwed up with the patch on my side of things.
does that somehow excuses the problems we are having with this game? O.o
I think he's just saying that it could be much, much worse. Not everything said on the internet is black and white. You can't honestly take every comment like that to mean "SIT THERE AND LIKE IT, CRYBABY".
Exactly. Sometimes things just get screwed up. Sometimes developers come thru with a fix in a timely manner, othertimes they dont, and even then, othertimes they just dont get fixed.
Arkham Knight was all over the place Day 1, so much so that the developer and publisher had to pull it from retail. The "PC Port" of it was also worked on by a small team from the company that made Divekick and Killer Instinct Season 2, and not a full scale team.
Does that excuse them? No? Does it paint a broader picture than simply "Warner Bros ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up" or "Rocksteady Studios ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up"? Yes, since it wasn't Rocksteady that ported it to PC.
We are also not looking at problems as large as that mess was, but we are still looking at problems none-the-less. For those of us who are in the US asking "Is IO fixing these issues?" Thats a yes and no question. Yes, they are fixing them. No, not right now (as IO is in Denmark and it is still like 4 or 5 am there). AND PAX is happening right now, AND its the weekend, AND they need to do more tests, AND they need to take into consideration the lag time for pushing updates out, AND they to make sure these bugs are not happening OR are fixed if they are on PC, PS4 and XBox One.
Not at all black & white. Would they say, off the record, that they messed up? Probably yes. Would they say that publicly? No, the internet does enough of the bad press, they dont need to compound it by stating the obvious.
