What's the benefits of going online?
When I first started the game it asked to go online and I decline. Now it says I can play offline as well as accept the agreement to go online. I'm just curious what are the benefits of online? I would assume leaderboards maybe but have no idea what else.

I mean, you can go online and see for yourself.

Correct but there's still terms to agree to. I'm just curious what's online and would like to hear what other players say about it.

A good 90% of the game is online. Going online is pretty much required if you want to have a good time.

And you really don't lose anything by agreeing to the terms. Pretty much 99.9% of players have already agreed to those terms, and nothing bad has happened to them.

Do you have any more specific info. What exactly is meant by 90% of the game is online and how is it better when it comes to having a better experience. Genuinly interested. Also i'm not too concerned about accepting terms just more interested in why online is better compared to offline.

There's a thread about this that happened a couple years ago.

You can play the entire storyline offline from start to finish

What you can't do is unlock anything or complete challenges, so the replay value of the game will be next to nothing. You won't even be able to unlock profesional modes for the 6 main missions that have them (which is a higher difficulty level)

Starting locations?

Some of the things you can unlock are starting points, places you can choose to infiltrate during setup, instead of always being at the default location. Some of those locations include already having a disguise. They come from mastery of the levels, basically the game assumes you've played enough to know how to get to certain locations and disguises and just lets you pick that as a starting point for replays

You also unlock new smuggling locations, so you can place certain weapon/items at a pickup point of your choosing.

And then of course there's the variety of tools and weapon unlocks

Thing is, if you just want to complete the game once through, you don't need any of that. The game is 100% completable with the basic suit and no items at all (you technically dont even need the equipment you start with, every level can be completed starting with nothing if you wanted to).

You would still be able to pick up disguises, weapons and equipment during a level (and none of those are needed either, they are all optional)

You just won't have the ability to unlock things for future playthroughs, which will minimize your replay value

You also won't have access to player made contracts (challenges made by other players) of which there are 1000's and give the game near unlimited replay value beyond the 16 missions it comes with

So, can you play it offline? yea, but there's less than 10 hours of content that way. Played online with a goal of doing all the challenges you could easily get 50 to 100 hours out of it, and if you like contracts, that's as many 100's of hours as you are willing to put into it

You basically need to be online to unlock things, like new weapons, items, starting locations.

You can play offline and then go online just to get your newest unlocks, then go back offline and continue playing.

Ok cool I think I understand now. Thank you guys. Also is a starting location just a new spawn point in the same maps? Also offline according to typhoon is still tracked and can still receive the rewards even after completion if I'm understand that correctly. Thanks for all the info.

Yes, it's a "spawn" point so to say. After finishing a mission and some challenges to gain mastery points, you will unlock items and new starting locations. Go online for a few seconds and the game will add your unlocks to your inventory. Go offline again and replay the mission. You will now be able to select your new items to bring them with you in the mission. Select a new starting location and you will start from there in the mission, already disguised as someone else (for example, a cook in the mansion kitchen, or as a scientist in the laboratory or something like that).
Here is a screenshot of unlocked locations in Sapienza:
