I haven't noticed any screen tearing (2560x1440 on a 144hz gsync enabled monitor), with a gtx1080 my frame rates sit comfortably in the 80-99 fps range with no noticable screen tearing
Edit: I wouldn't get one considering that all the new Geforce drivers barely support it. It would seem that the trend is dying and Nvidia doesn't seem to care much about making the new drivers optimized for Gsync.
Gsync doesnt even work for me with the most recent drivers. I had to revert to 387.92 driver to make it work right, and I'm not sure if I can update to the current driver without it breaking again. I'll link a post I made so you can see for yourself what kind of issues can happen. Overall you could get lucky and have no issues.
