In Absolution........ You're rescuing.... a "Damsel in Distress", because the (whatever he is) Travis, at the ICA, is pretty much being a ♥♥♥♥. Diana first rescued the girl, then ICA put a hit out on Diana, but 47 didn't really kill her, then Blake Dexter of Dexter Industries wanted the girl to get her DNA (I guess) to make super soldiers (again, I guess).
There's two parts to this:
The training missions and story in the opening of Hitman(2016) are among the best in the series, it actually serves as a better prequel to the entire series than has ever been presented in the franchise before.
If you have played "everything" up to this point and care about the franchise storyline in-total, then this games 2 training missions and their associated story are "that important". The only mission (from any prior game) that takes place before it is the escape from the asylum (first played in the original game, and replayed in 47's memories while he is injured in 3)
From there comes his joining the ICA and meeting Diana, which takes place through the (well done) storyline and opening training missions in Hitman(2016)
However, once training is done you get a montage of past games and kills and a fast forward to 7 years after Absolution, skipping all the loose ends from that game. (if you've played the end of absolution you know Diana faked her death, you were working for her and you cleaned out the rogue ICA agents, that all carrys over but is ignored, you are just "back to work as normal" under her command)
The season 1 campaign is series of 6 more missions, they do have a vague storyline but it's played out as stand alones and you don't really find out their tie ins until the end which is still left very open for a season 2. It's interesting but not nearly as in depth or hand holding as Absolution. If you enjoyed Blood Money (4) it's about that level of storyline with interesting cut scenes before and after every mission, every target has a video intro about them
The GOTY mini campaign has its own self contained story and a few more missions, it's short but well done
The bonus missions (4 stand alones) each have a video intro for their targets, there's story but it's self contained to each
There's basically 16 missions in total that will take 20 hours or less to complete "once through", and the story beyond the training area is primarily the detailed video introductions of each target along with a minimilist chain of cut scenes linking the targets together and hinting at something larger (yet to come)
The meat of the game are the challenges, this is very much an open world "murder sandbox" and the challenges are puzzles on each level for you to figure out. There's 50 to 100 hours of puzzles to complete before you finish on normal and have all the achievements
There's over 50 escalation missions (these don't have a story, but instead have a puzzle structure that evolves and gets harder each time you play them, they require 3 to 5 times to finish each to the end, they take a few minutes per play through and are basically escalating skills tests)
Beyond that there is professional mode, 6 (of the 16) missions have a pro mode that is substantially harder than normal (but all unlock a new tool), these can take a while to prove you are capable, but add nothing new to the story (same targets as normal version, just harder)
Beyond all of that is contracts, there's a near infinite replay value to these, and there is an active community still playing and sharing contracts, some of the more famous twitch players have 1000's of hours doing contracts, there's just that much depth and variety
Hitman(2016) is very much about the puzzle and challenge gameplay, the story (what there is) is good, and the voice work is quality, but there's not a lot of it beyond the target introductions once you get beyond training missions
If your only point of reference is Absolution, this isn't that. This is very much an evolution of Blood Money(4) that just happens to carry over and expand the contracts mode introduced by Absolution(5). It carries over the heart of Hitmans 3 and 4 very well with the most replay value this series has ever seen (though 4 comes close)
From a gameplay perspective, this is the best Hitman ever created (with Blood Money a very tight second). From a storyline perspective, Absolution has volume, but I'm not going to debate quality. I think Hitman 2 had the best and most appropriate story telling in the series, 3 was a minimilist story-excuse to shovel more (awesome) contracts at you but doesn't really have a story to tell and 4 (blood money) had the introductions to targets without really trying to tie it all together. Hitman(6) is very much in that style, but does manage to tie some of it together, and of course it does have the best intro to the character in the series (in the training missions)
If you are only a fan of Absolution, you might be done, and you might be done forever because I don't think we're ever going to see that much volume of linear hand holding again in this series, the fans hated it's structure. If you are a fan of the franhise as a whole, this is simply the most important game you could support right now (despite its flaws)
If you liked Hitman 1, 2, 3, 4 then get this, it's awesome
If you only liked 5 (absolution), Bye Felicia

In what way is that Trump? It doesn't look like him, it doesn't sound like him, they are not in the same business, they are not from the same state. Beyond that Dexters personality is totally different (plus dexter being an alcoholic, and despite trumps many other flaws he doesn't drink)
There's literaly nothing about that character that is similar aside from "they are both rich", in which case you may as well be trying to say that Dexter is a parody of "every rich person ever" (or to you that somehow means Trump is the only rich person in the world)
You might as well be claiming that Dexter was Richard Kinder and the woman with him was Marillyn Hewson, it would at least be mildly more accurate (and still completely wrong)
Also, If you let opportunities enabled you can finish all maps together in 3 hours or even less. But maybe this is a positive to you.
