When those games were made, the technology to render crowds meant that designers had to find a way to justify so many repeating clones. Both levels took place at underground parties-the perfect excuse to have so many similar costumes- and this would in some small way justify the choice of latex and an improbable number of ball gags.
Season 2 hopefully will have some kind of level like these. Not the fetish gear, etc., but a crowded party with multiple zones and various distinct levels within the map.
But yeah, I was thinking this too not so long time ago. Contracts definetly had this much darker theme around it. Everything from the music to small actions like preparing the fiber wire were surrounded by sinister atmosphere and I loved it.
