Unequip weapon - How can I get back to having nothing selected?

I just got this game. How can i deselect whatever weapon I have equipped, so that I can subue someone with my bare hands?

When I have the gun selected, Q will kill them. I just want to subdue them with Q. How can I do this?

To holster your weapon press the middle mouse button or caps lock.

H by default holsters weapons/items as well.
