EU4's start dates are broken

EU4 is one of my favorite game and of course, I love playing with the start date set at 1444.

But I also want to play the seven years war of anything beyond 1600's. The problem is that since all the patches and dlc, the devs never cared for optimization for those dates (bad economy, no manpower, not balanced,...). In order to make the game more attractive, they can work on this instead of thinking about a new mechanic. I remember having heard that the devs don't want to work on it, and personnaly I regret this choice.

What do you think guys? Oh and if you know a mod who can grant a better experience for other start date tell me pls

I think that other start dates would be interesting, but there are still hundreds of countries that I haven't played in 1444 so I would need more than 10000 hours till more start dates would be really interesting. And I think the limited time of the developers can be better spend fixing bugs and adding new things to the game even if these new things only work well when you start in 1444.

I have heard that it makes other start dates more playable. But it changes many more things about the game

The word your looking for is updating, not optimization.

If I remember correcly Paradox have said that they wont update them. Too much work and very few people rarely choose anything other than 1444 right from the launch. Doubt any modder wants to touch it either.
