Byzantium - Restore Roman Empire
Is this still valid, I found it in an old thread from 2015? I just need to own cores in all of these provinces and I will get the option to restore the empire?

I was a bit confused because it didn't include anything in Italy, but I guess they are referring to what is considered the Eastern Empire which survived in later years as Byzantium.

Holy cow, that seems impossible with a straight up Byzantium start. I'm finally having a good run, but that seems way out of reach.
Maybe you need to start as another nation, and then first restore Byzantium, and then restore the Roman Empire?

Dude, using exploits. Im at the start of 1600s and just started pushing into Anatolia as Byzantium, and from another exploit I'll have pretty much infinite time to play the game.

The hard part its taking France, Castille, London, the other english province and zeeland.

What you have to do if you have a good start is conquer all the muslims lands (anatolia, levante, egypt, etc) while you try to get PU with France/Castille/Austria/England. Once you get imperialism CB you have to start a no end war in Europe

You have to be very lucky to restore the Roman empire as Byzantium.
For me the lucky was that i get a PU over an Austria who had integrated Hungary adn got another PU over Napoles

Also the ideas you choose is one of the most important things

I restored the roman empire as Byzantium, but I think that was patch 1.17? Maybe 1.16? Ottoman Empire was much weaker then. Did it as Castile first. so much easier...

I am not sure how I would do it now....Byzantium is in a much tougher spot in 1.21.

I restored the Byzantium Empire in Crusader Kings II and converted over to EU IV. It is much easier to restore the Roman Empire in CK II if you start at the earlier dates when the Byzantines were still large and strong.

Well, this is how I finished up. I'm gonna have to give it another try. One thing I learned is that I wasn't pushing my agressive expansion enough early on. I thought you should stay below 50, but now I realize if you look at who gets ticked off at you, you can maybe take a little more territory if the coalition isn't going to be a threat. I'll also change my idea groups a bit.
I had Ragusa in a PU and was in the process of integrating.

go to the pause menu and click statistics, then click continue and it allows you to play past the end date and still get achievments.
