Petty cash is the 'match equalizer' as numbers go. You get free cash to buy inducements (bonuses) based on how much higher the enemy TV is. If they want one, they have to pay out-of-pocket, and it supposedly gives you more petty cash as well. The 50-point difference means 50,000 in petty cash (a cheerleader)
Don't worry about aging, it's not fast, averaging around 80-games. You'll be replacing units as you go along long-term anyway to permenant injuries, deaths, and bad skill growth.

Yes. As opposed to 'throwing the match' or 'being sacrificed to'. An even match is a sufficient challenge unless you've been doing this for longer than the game's been out.
It makes predictable moves however, which is its key weaknesses. It's possible to out-clever the AI if you can't out-luck it.
The AI is pretty bad, still.
