Well that's stupid. There is no logical reason for removing the ability to edit teams.
Seems like every casualty is represented by a number 1-18, you can find the information in the main game's db folder in the rules.db (for instance putting casualty 18 on a player number should make them die). Likewise all skills are a number 1-66, you can find that information in the rules for player types.
Haven't tested it out yet but this should mean you can run a league with your friends offline and manually edit the db so the results of your friendly hotseat match stick.
