I found mouse is a lot quicker than controller too. Though your milage may vary.
There's no 2 minute limit in the rules.
But I'm sure everyone's mileage varies on this, and I agree that 2 mins is pretty unforgiving for new players.
Edit to add: I'm not quite sure why the open league doesn't use the BB1 system where you could set a max and min time you're willing to accept, and that was used by the matchmaker. Maybe they're worried that the CCU is going to be too low to support the extra splitting of players by preferred match length.
You can barely pause for 10 seconds at the start of your turn to consider the tactical situation at hand before you have got to start moving your pieces frantically. I know people have short attention spans and little patience but as it is now it is simply rush rush rush with no room for thinking and should never have been set as the default especially with the influx of new players.
It gets worse when you have some guard in the mix; often it creates small tactical puzzles for the blocking game that require a little bit of thinking. This is also compounded by the bad UI (the players cards) and the lack of difference in the models that make it bloody hard to tell who has an extra skill. "Oh which one is the blitzer with tackle again?"
It needs to be 3 minutes for the default league with maybe a speed play option of 2 minutes and a newbie league set to 4.
I did the same. I made her sit and read the rulebook, then we had a couple of 4 min turn games. Try that. You won't have to explain every single thing, then. :)
"Read that book woman! Now git in the kitchen!"
Somehow, I don't see this working out too well with me and my wife... Any man with a girlfriend/wife willing to even sit down for an unlimited timed match, much less read the rules, is a blessed man indeed.
Perhaps 'made' was too strong a word. She liked to watch me play, and I got fed up of explaining everything, so I threw her an 80-page document.
An hour of silence followed (punctuated by the occasional chuckle), and then a sudden purchase on Steam.
