So, the process is BEYOND convoluted.
Step 1:
Let's assume you already created a League that is "invite only". The League Owner has to go into the "competition" he wants to invite teams to and then go in the "teams" tab. From here, he/she has to use one of the arrows on the left side of the screen until it shows "all" and at that point he/she will have to manually type the name of the teams they want to invite. When that team will show up on the right, he/she will hit INVITE.
Step 2:
The invited team will receive an invite, but it will be hard to find it! The player who received an invite will have to go under the "PLAY IN A LEAGUE" menu (not Team management, which is bogus) and after picking but NOT clicking the team that has been invited, you will notice that under the team logo there's a new "Tickets: 1". In this same screen you should be able to click on a new button that says "Use tickets". After using the ticket a huge, full screen actual ticket will show up and you will have to click accept or ok or join (something like that), and it's done :)
Feel free to ask more if this doesn't clarify enough.
Thanks. Once you know not to go looking under Team Management it's pretty easy.
