Chaos Minotaurs: Are they ever worth taking?
Hi all. This one's especially directed at experienced Chaos players. Like the title says, are Mino's ever worth taking? Even under the best circumstances, they crap out 1/6 of the time. They're hard to get up once knocked down (unless you want to risk wasting a blitz), have weak armour for a Big Guy and have the usual drawbacks (no block, Loner).

They're a big Team-Value sink. So...are they worth it long term? The idea of getting Claw right off the bat is intriguing, I get that they can serve as a nice 'road-block', but does that all, pound-for-pound, balance out the negatives of high cost and unreliability? Is there a point at which there;s a build for these guys where you can say 'Yep, you definitely want that in your team', or is it best to go with Warriors and Bestmen all round?

If you are playing to win in a competive environment no they are not worth it.
Big Guys that are worth it
Kroxigor Ogre and maybe the Troll

Not the troll never the troll...

Honestly the troll has the worst nega trait by far and has no special thing going for him except throwing goblins. Minotaurs have frenzy and horns, krox has his tail etc etc

Trolls are funny though I have one on my orcs but its a bad big guy. To the OP though minotaurs are fine, if you can level one up and preferably get block. But never do what most chaos players do with a mino and insist of doing the most important block each turn with your mino cause eventually it will fail and your opponent will probably win as a result.

You should take mino but once you have the chaos warriors leveled up till they get block . The reason is that mino has its risk from the start but once he gets a skill up, he's a real force to be reckon with. My mino is my favourite player coz he's got some of the most craziest skills . I rolled triple double so he's got block, dodge , jump up and claw.

Once you got a fresh mino, just use him to blitz and if you're afraid of your mino being error prone, just get juggernaut as your first skill .

I would suggest taking a Mino, level him up once or twice and if he doesn't get doubles for Block, start again. Though the Mino has low armour, the only two injuries you should worry about are -ST and death, and chances of that happening are barely above 1 in 6.

A Mino with Block is a serious threat and Wild Animal is a way better nega-trait that Bone-Head, since you'll still have TZs and can assist in blocks, and that's what makes Minotaurs decent big guys IMHO.

Give Mino Block and Tentacles and you're pretty much set. You can block every turn with low risk of turnover (should still do it as the last action if possible), and Tentacles almost guarantee that you don't have to Blitz with the Mino, as there usually should be an enemy standing next to you.

The 3rd level-up choice should probably be Claw, as Tentacles is good against squishy Agi-teams, you need Claw especially to take down other Big Guys. Guard is not bad either, and it works even if Wild Animal fails.

Never get juggernaut imo its borderline gimped and broken in BB2 as it will prevent you ever making proper use of block if you roll doubles which is a far better skill.

Being fixed next patch, apparently. And Juggs/Block is a good combo vs wrestlers when Juggs works properly.

Mino is fine to take later as a 12th or 13th player, but as with all big guys, assume he will always fail, and you will be seldom dissappointed.

So haveing something that can do a one turn td is not haveing something special going for it?

LOL I use one myself and yes the troll is fun, in a trolololol type of way but in all seriousness he is the worst big guy of the current teams, closely followed by treemen.

Juggernaut is a really good skill against stubborn opponents with stand firm , fend or wrestle but most importantly it's for the big guys as they need to roll a double for block. Furthermore it's even better for mino with his frenzy skill .

It also depends on how you want to build your mino to your team's requirements. If you want to make him into CLMBPO , go ahead, he's just 2 skill away from it. If you want him to be a friendly hugger, get guard and tentacles. Out of all the big guys, i believe he's the best of them all due to his easy access to mutation.

I'd be tempted to go for Claw (Ups the chance of getting SPP's quicker) Jug and Guard. Block would be my first choice for a doubles roll. I've played two games with a Mino now and boy...are they unreliable! ANYTHING to reduce them getting turn-over would be a pretty much top prority. After Claw. 'Cos Clawed up big guys are awesomes...

The minotaur is a gimmick you can consider taking in perpetual leagues to change things up in your Chaos teams. The best way to use him is to make him your blitzer, some people prefer to use him in a defensive role but with AV8, low agi, big guy neg trait he is bound to get destroyed at some point early in development. He is somewhat nice to get a fresh Chaos team going and its a gamble you can afford taking in leagues.

Just don't use him for any sort of tournament because he COULD hog MVPs and sucks compared to your other players in the long run and he is unreliable.

The best mino I have ever head was a two doubles and a str increase in his first 3 level ups and he died with some 250+ spp in the original Cyanide game. He still messed up 1-2 times a game though and eventually was killed by a tree. (trees live forever -.-)
