What are tickets ?

Finally got a ticket from a solo league (seems to only work when playing offline which I have to do to avoid losing my solo league progress...) but what the heck do they do ?

Haven't quite gotten that far yet but in my 8 team solo a ticket is given to the top 4 teams to progress to the semi final stage...well I assume that is what it is.

What league structure you using?

I used 8 team round robin, 4 team knockout, 2 team knockout.

They work as invites to exclusive competitions in that league. So I'm not sure what the value is in a solo league since I have yet to play in one. If you create your own league for messing around, you might be able to figure out better how they work.

I got a ticket from a French league. I think the league mods can just hand them out to people? Have played online as well, so I don't think it has anything to do with what has been mentioned here. Anyway you can get into a league with those...a closed league I think. If you want to.
