Rat Ogre for Skaven?
Hi folks,

started a new skaven team and had some quite good matches. (6 Wins, 1 Even)

At the moment my team looks like this:

Gutter Runner1: Wrestle, Dodge, Side Step
Gutter Runner2: Wrestle, Dodge
Gutter Runner3: Block, Dodge
Gutter Runner4: Block, Dodge

Vermins no extra skills yet (but one needs only 1 SPP)
Thrower with Accurate
Linerat with Kick

At the moment I have 2 linerats at my bench for emergencys (so my team consists of 13 Players)
I have 4 rerolls and an Apo. My TV is at 1410 at the moment.

Now my question: Is it useful to buy a rat ogre now or will it just push up my TV? Or should I grab more skills for my team first before I take the TV push?

I guess a rat Ogre is quite a good pick for my Defense (I would put out a GR then for the defense phase). I don't know whether he fits in my offensive playstyle but I guess I would take out a Linerat then.

So whats ur guesses?

Thanks !

You need wrestle on your gutter runners and or strip ball. Rat Ogres tend to be more of a liability but I'd still pick him up but I wouldn't rely on him.

Yeah my playstyle works fine without him , but I think he is a nice to have, just for the tail and blocking the LOS in the defence...
But I dont know how much TV he will add to my team. I try to grow it steady , skilling everyone quite even. I'm feared that he will push me up :D

Some coaches grab it, but not all. Personally I don't really like it.

I'm with the no rat ogre camp as well.. it takes up TV and you'll need more linerats but something is to be said about a big rat busting cages wide open for you =)

Private League get him, Open stay away from him.

In private Legaue you want to have high tv because you must compete with high tv bashers anyway and inducements are mostly no good compesation for skills on players. For example an inducement Reroll costs about double the normal price.

In Open you would want a low TV so that you dont have to compete with high level tv bashers because they have skills who are deadly for your team like tackle.

I field rat ogres only during defense for breaking into a cage to get the ball. I find without him it is much tougher to keep bashing teams from scoring. Seems with no rat ogre the best I can do sometimes is just delay the opponent's scoring. Which is all you need to do in some circumstances.

I like adding guard to him punch a hole into the cage then send in some linemen.

For offense I really see no need for them.

This is the perpetual discussion of whether or not to have the big guy. At least he has Wild Animal so he doesn't lose his tackle zones, but you're gonna have to be ready to blitz with him to give him a higher chance of doing... anything. Always be ready for your Big Guy to just stand there and never ever ever waste a reroll on him.
