Buy this or wait for 3?

According to steam blood bowl 3 is coming out in august which isnt all to far away. I've been looking at this game for a long time but have never been to sure if i should get it because i wasn't sure how active the community is.

I quite enjoyed the table top version of this game when i was a kid. So when i saw this was on steam it was a no brainer to wishlist it. Kind of want to get this now but if bloodbowl 3 is gonna be here in like 3 months then would it be better to just wait for that instead?

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in the release date for any computer game if its more than, say, two or three weeks in the future. Additionally, if their past products are any indicator, it'll take them a while to roll out all the races and iron out some of the worst bugs.

From what I understand, Blood Bowl 3 isn't gonna release with half of the teams that 2 currently has, and at who-knows what price. And as VoodooMike said, it's gonna take awhile before 3 is as fleshed out as 2.

If I was in your position, I would wait until late June when the summer sale is supposed to start, see if the Legendary Edition goes on sale. Ultimately up to you.

not even going to look at BB3 till all the teams are released. Then, maybe, i would consider buying it during a discount.

BB2 works just fine, i have all the teams so why in hell would i buy BB3?

Tbf Blood Bowl 3 uses the most recent ruleset of the game, so if you really like the changes made there, I could see why someone might want to switch to playing BB3 on release despite only including 12 teams at launch.

I do agree with everyone here though that the best suggestion we can make is for the OP to buy the Legendary Edition of BB2 on sale since we don't have any idea when Blood Bowl 3 will release. Especially since even when it does release it'll take some time before it has the same number of teams that BB2 has. Just playing the devils advocate here.

there are a lot of dedicated leagues that are still active to this day, I recently joined 2 leagues one for casual play and one for compaetition

Personally, I have BB1 and BB2 (both Legendary edition). And I play both. I play BB2 mostly on xbox one, but I do play both on occasion here on Steam. I'll consider buying BB3 when it comes out. But I might wait till they add the Undead team. That is my favored team after all.

EDIT: Of course, I might just wait till a BB3 Legendary/Complete edition bundle is released so I can get the entire game at once. :)

I’ll get BB 3 right away because it’s based on 2020 rules. BB 2 isn’t even 2016 rules so it’s two rule set behind. But there is nothing wrong waiting either. Just depends on your personal taste.

Its on sale now you can get 2 now and just pick up 3 later as you can get 2 legendary edition for really cheap. I myself am not gonna get 3 till later. I didn't move to 2 till all the dlc was released then i picked it up on sale. i might not pick it up at all if they don't make AI improvements.

Looks like they move the release to September now. So if you want to play sooner get 2. It's 4 bucks now so why not. Good news on BB 3 is they have it open to Beta Testers now.

there is official expansion in the legendary edition, it also gives races (is that still missing some?).
