How do the Multiplayer Leagues Work? (Private?)

Hello,

So I just purchased BB2, and I've eyed it since release. Going to test it out soon (maybe refund, since I'm seeing a lot of displeasure on the forums).
Nonetheless, I have 4 other friends who might get it during the sale. I wanted to ask those with experience, how do the multiplayer leagues work?
Can I make a league with 5 people? Can AI act as additional teams? Or could the 5th player get a 'freebee' and sit out a term?

I don't think the single player would be in the best interest of my friends, so I'm really hoping I can learn more about custom leagues. Thanks in advance!

U can make ur own League with ur friends, and then only u and ur friends teams would be spinning and play each other :) U cant supplement multiplayer with Ai teams :) Id recommend trying the Cabavision Official League to learn the game and after u get familiar with the game find a private league with likeminded foes :)

Since there's 5 of you, if you get one more person to play and make it 6, you guys should just be able to do a league by yourselves. You can make it a double round robin and have a good 10 games for regular season and then have a 4 man playoffs or something.

Unfortunately you can't create a league with an odd number of players.

So do the leagues persist? I can decide on match times and other settings for the tournie?

Wish it worked for odd player groups, oh well. I'll look into it more.

You can create a perpetual Ladder, or a Competition ( as far as I know ) . To get an Idea of what options are there for a Competition, you can check that out in SoloPlay, creating a Custom one .

How deep are the options for creating leagues? I used to run a private league in Blood Bowl Chaos Edition, and I was always frustrated that we couldn't set up the league how we wanted.

What I was looking for was a double round robin, followed by a playoff system for the top 6 teams, with the top 2 teams getting a "bye" week; basically a structure very similar to how American football playoffs work (best 2 teams in each division get a free pass in the first elimination round to reward their performance in the regular season).

Is this possible in Blood Bowl 2?

then to recombine into a new comp - yes again but it's not automatic
