Blood Bowl 2
Dark Elves progression
Hi all
I actually have a team composed of :
4 blitzers; 3 Linemen; 1 assassin; 1 runner; 2 Witch
1 Apo; NO RR

I have a purse of 150 k and will have to fight a human team for my next fight

should i ?
1 - buy a RR
2 - buy a 12th player and if yes which one ?

Thx for your insights !

Honestly, you've kind of scuppered yourself from the start. RRs are better bought straight away as they double in cost after initial build. Generally people tend to go for 4 Blitzers, 7 linemen, 2 RRs (or possibly 6 linemen, 1 runner) then get a witch/apo next.

Assuming you're not interested in/able to restart, from your position now rerolls need to be the priority, imo. Get to 2 or 3 then get 2-3 more linemen and lose the assassin (assassins are traps).
... has this team played a game yet?

If yes - get rerolls ASAP.

if no, fire witch and assassin and take 2 rr's

EDIT: 150 bank + those pieces, ok, so you have played a few games and survived some how... yeah, rr's 2-3 should be your priority purchases.

yep two games already
one draw one loss
i know its a extreme risk bet but i wanted to have my positionals as fast as possible to make them SPP as fast as possible ...
but i now hesitate between an defensive choice (add another player .. but with no place for errors or hazard) and offensive (an RR to use at the right time but with the risk to play at 10 or 9 as one or severals of my AR7 will go out)

Always get your rerolls first. You cannot level all your positionals from the start, so all you risk is an untimely death to start and now you are down a positional and have no money to replace them with and pick up your rerolls. This is not only a terrible way to start a team, but puts you precisely in this kind of connundrum. You should always start with 2-3 rerolls, 1 only if there is a very good reason (of which I know none). When I run into no reroll brigades, I foul every expensive player I can get my hands on to show them the error of their ways.
My "I know what's best for this team if you want to win" answer is to fire the assassin and the runner and get up to 3 RR, deal with loners for the time being as they make great line fodder and don't absolutely suck for getting in the way.

My real answer is to still get yourself 2 RR plus get leader on the Runner ASAP! As much as I hate the Runner if you want him, keep him. Dark Elves typically don't want to roster any bench players because even after just 1 level up, you've got TV that equates to an induced bribe/RR/apo on the bench. Not only that, Elves are capable of winning a game even if they are down players due to being fast and agile, so extra players is typically not a huge concern.

BTW, I'm a fan of the 3 Blitzer, 1 Witch, 2 RR start, personally. Also like the assassin but he's an extremely gimmicky piece that is simply useless in a fair amount of matchups. Runner is trash and Dump Off is a trap - not a good skill, but that's for a different thread
Wow, grats , didn't know it was possible to make a terrible Dark Elf team. Mat as well go all the way and buy another Assassin and a half dozen assistant coaches.

ass coaches can be a temporary aide at this point actually, he/she needs a reroll whereever he/she can get it
wow i should think about buying another assassin and a feuw assistants ;-)

thanks for your comments .... i wont fire my assassin, its my most spp ed player ^^ (11)
but i ll rather choose a RR rather than another player ..

hope he will not foul all my AR7 players ... i ll get them out of TZ

yeah, now you've played, firing is a bad idea, just add rr's when you can
...when i ll have my 3 RRs, i will have a good team or i am wrong ...
2 witches with block or wrestle ; 1 Runner; 1 assassin ..maybe they are a little weak but can be strong and versatile ...
some comments elsewhere in this forum about the assassin's role are not so negative ...
The Ass Ass is at best a mediocre piece on a very strong team. He doesn't add anything that the team needs.

Stab only works against low av teams, and leaves you based, you either have to start him on the LOS or use a Blitz action with him, and stabbing still ends his turn.

He's Mv6 so the maths doesn't work for Shadowing any piece you'd want to shadow.

He's Av7 so yet another piece you'll have to protect.

A Blitzer, esp if rolls a double for MB does the Assassins role of removal a hell of a lot better. And it's easier to level Blitzers as they're faster, move heavily armored and have the Block skill.
Otherwise your team is ok, but with at least 3 Av7 pieces you'll start to get into a position where you can't protect all your valuable pieces in the classic "Rule of Five" defensive setup.
Dark elves are just too expensive to have a developed player sitting on the bench or not pulling its weight. Assassins are fluf piece, not to be taken in competitive play. Imo runners are just not usefull enough to have on a team either. Hell, in mm environment i like having only one witch, but they are great to have of course.

You are trying the way Enarion starts his wood elves, but first of all wood elves are not dark elves and than he is Enarion and you are not :)

Well WE who take a tree and two WDs have a hard time with rerolls due to the costs of those players. The zero start uses a thrower and/or multiple catchers as well. The one reroll start with Tree and 2 WDs is tenable for experienced coaches, or just for starting your team with the Tree and both WDs if you don't care so much about win rate preferring to gamble on development.

Dark Elfs have a perfect start with 2 rerolls and a couple different roster compositions, either 4 blitzers or 3 blitzers and a witch depending on how you prefer it. Some will also start with a runner because they are dumb.

There is never any good reason to roster an assassin, I'd fire him, then delete the team for having actually had an assassin on the roster. Then uninstall Blood Bowl and probably also Steam just to be sure. To be totally safe you might consider nuking the computer from orbit.
