Playoff Question
Quick question that I'd like to get some opinions on. Do you think end-of-season playoffs should have SPP/Injuries turned on or off?

My league's getting bigger so the format is going to change to where not every team will qualify for our playoffs. I'm concerned that it may be unfair for some teams to get several extra games worth of SPP and earnings.

On one hand I feel that an opportunity for more rewards is a perk of making it into the playoffs, but I'm concerned that newer/inexperienced teams that don't place may get discouraged and not want to stick around because of wider TV gaps.

What do you all think?

I leave spp active. I find that even newer teams can find their way into the post season.

Could you make playoff brackets so the lower half of the league can play too?

Unless your playoffs are more than 3 or 4 games I don't think it should matter very much.

However, you can choose to run a losers bracket for the teams which don't qualify just to give them something to do. In any case, unless your playoffs are some kind of round robin or swiss, only the teams in the championship game are getting the full number. In a standard knock out, half the teams are only getting one extra game.

We have multiple divisions with a promotion/relegation system so maybe I'll keep SPP on, keep the playoffs small so they're over quick without much of a gap between seasons and we'll try to make it so that winning the top division is the big deal. Something like that. What kind of formats do your leagues use?

When you have promotion/relegation/mix of new vs old, having some teams with more games than others is no big deal. I consider it a reward for making playoffs that you get some more games anyway.
