Except friendly match play doesn't allow players to accrue SPP, I *think* injuries aren't applied in the same way (i.e., injuries tend to always be innocuous... badly hurt, no long term effect) though I could be wrong about that. So you would have to manually track SPP as they are accrued, roll earnings and fan factor and all of that other stuff, track and manually apply injuries after the match (and assuming I'm right about the low severity, roll outside of game on the injury table).
Physically rolling dice and tracking spreadsheets outside of game isn't an answer - that's the whole point of having a digital copy of the game. The functionality should be available in-game to pit your custom teams against each other in a league, and have all of the progress and setbacks that come with league play. And in that regard, the functionality already exists to a large degree, it just needs some tweaking by the developer to allow for locallly managed leagues with full team progression rules.
(edit - I was wrong about the injuries, there are severe injuries. But still, you would haveto go back in and re-apply them manually after the friendly match. Not a good solution).
Boy, was it a tough one - a fight to the finish. Players were injured, players died, players earned SPP, none of that is recorded. No prizes won... it's just empty. Sure it was an awesome match, but the teams should be able to push into next "season" with all of the benefits and drawbacks of having played this match.
The only way I see to make it happen is to keep track on a paper of all match stats, and then create customs teams as we go, to account for the fact of increasing experience.
