The B button stopped working once I picked up the small handkerchief. The game shows no message or response at all when I try to use the kerchief or the clothespin on anything.

Why is it so hard to use a beaker that is "filled with celestial tears" on the plant (ivy) to the right of the moon? Is it the wrong kind of water? Am I pushing the wrong mouse buttons (yes, I use a mouse, NOT a controller!) The game makes no response at all, What, if anything, do I have wrong?...
