Good Mundane Weapons?
I started a new character yesterday. I pretty much rushed to Iron keep to get access to Dull ember and make mundane weapons.

I also killed Najka (who was pretty tough at SL55) so I can farm Mundane stones in Doors of Pharros, if I'm really unlucky with the Smooth & Silky stone trading.

I've never tried a Mundane build before, so I really have no idea what weapons I should use. I probably won't be doing much co-op, maybe some chunk farming in the bellkeeper and the random invasions I get, but mainly PvE/Co-op.

I won't be using Santier's Spear or Avelyn(s), except maybe for PvE. I know how annoying those two are, especially power stance Avelyns.

I'm guessing daggers might be good. They don't scale that well, not to mention that they have low base damage, so they won't suffer much from the base damage reduction the mundane infusion gives. I've though about regular crossbows as well (probably just light ones, since they require only 19 STR for power stance, while heavy requires 30).

Then there's Black scorping stinger. It's a rapier, doesn't scale at all, and inflicts poison (pretty weak one though, so hopefully mundane improves it a bit).

Thoughts?

In general, the best Mundane weapons have low base damage and poor scaling. Daggers and Bandit Knives work well, and ordinary Crossbows, not just Avelyn's. Never tried it, but I have a feeling that Mail Breakers might also work. However, Mundane cuts ALL damage values in half, including poison and bleed damage, so the Black Scorpion Stinger would probably be rendered useless by Mundane.

Mundane works best on fast attack low scalling weapons thus dagger class weapons work great, also the broken straight sword and laddle are pretty beastly mundane.

How does Mundane affect bleeding and poison scaling? Does mundane only affect physical scaling, or them as well?

If I does affect them too, then I might actually get pretty strong poison. It might cut the base poison damage by half, but increases scaling significantly.

Mundane doesn't increase scalling. It decreases scalling by a very large margine. It decreases base dmg and decreases base scaling of a weapon.

What it does do is it adds a very high scalling stat to your weapon that scales based off of the lowest stat you currently possess.

Twin blades work well with mundane also

I think he's asking if that new scaling also affects poison/bleed damage for things like the falchion or black scorpion stinger, or just regular physical damage.

I honestly have no idea if it does.

I know that, it's what I meant. :p

But does it increase poison/bleeding damage the same way it increase physical damage, or does it only affect physical?

Say, I have each stat at 15, so the bonus scaling mundane gives is 140. Will this be added to bleeding/poison as well?

Bump.
Crafty 16 maj, 2014 @ 12:00
Mundane Ladle
Mundane Dagger
Mundane Santier's Spear +5 (i.e. Scumbag weapon)
Mundane Avelyn +5 (i.e. Scumbag weapon)
Mundane Richard's

Mundane only adds physical damage.
