Killing the firekeepers?

ok so i really need some human effigys, and i know they have some, i also know if you have the kings ring they give them to you for free, but i dont have it yet, ive seriously looked everywhere ive been and i cant find anymore, so my question is: is there a penalty to killing them?

You do not want to do that.. Just put down a soapstone and go human that way. If you just want effigys, even burning an ascetic is a better idea then killing them.

Go on youtube, type white soapstone. Get one of those and help somebody kill a boss. Now you dont need effigies.

If you've reached the Shrine of Amana and reasued the 3 women, the you can pray at the shrine to get turned human again (as long as you have no human effigies), for free! There's a teleport point right nearby so it takes about 30 seconds.

You can't SUMMON while undead. But you can be summoned by other people.

You NEVER need to do anything radical for an effigy. Just use bonfire, travel to a bonfire about your level, put down small white soapstone sign, after like 5-10 minutes you have completed your task and are teleported back as human. Becoming human is just a matter of grind and pretty boring.

If you don't care about being a sinner you could kill .. Milibeth(?) in Things Betwixt. She drops 3. There's also 1 upstairs in that house if you didn't grab it.

I found out that in the Shrine of Amana, the lizerd people there drop human effigys like crazy.

If you are starting NG+, you can kill the Firekeepers, it makes no difference really. You will get Sin on your record, but it's not a big issue.

If you are worried about killing them, then just use a Bonfire Ascetic at the Crestfallen's Retreat in Forest of Fallen Giants bonfire and farm the chest for 5 effigies every time. Buy as many Ascetics as you can and you can get tons of effigies easily.

It will make the enemies harder but in that area there is no boss and you can run past everyone anyway.

Alternatively you can use Ring of Life Protection for 3k souls each time which will preserve your humanity.
