Worst boss design?
I know a lot of people are ragging on the game having too many "big armor dudes," but for me the winner might be Old Iron King. I don't even mean the fight, I'm talking about presentation. Big demon with wings and horns made of lava, standing in lava, very original. I think they forgot to program the camera during his cutscene too, half of the shots are just lava, maybe a third of the King's dumb face.

This was a pointless rant, I just wanted to get that out there. Makes me think of Gaping Dragon and Quelaag and how flawless their introductions were. Still a great game though!

no, its right, the fight with him is actually pretty fun (personally, just avoiding the blows and breath on the little island, easy but fun), but the design of big lame lava demon is soooooooo lazy, especially with the really wonderful demons they gave us in the first game, the huge ugly guy you land on in the first asylum, the taurus and capra demons, they were still a little unoriginal but no-where near Old Iron King.

The rotten, for being an old one fight it was tremendously easy.

Yeah some of the bosses don't compare to DS1 in terms of originality. Just feels like rehashed ideas unfortunately. Though I did like the Smelter Demon.

In terms of bad boss presentation, for me, it's the Congregation. Not really a boss as such, but they have boss health bars, so they count in my book. They're just kinda....there. And then you kill them. And...that's it.

On a positive spin, my favorite boss presentation is Freyja, the build up as you descend to her chamber is amazing, and the cut scene introduction hints at a dragon, rather than a mutated spider beasty.

And then there's Vendrick. Slowly chipping away thru the Undead Crypts, a long slog thru a room full of knights, a massive boss, and then, the point the game has been leading you to this whole time. Then you see him. Perfect.
Yeah, many of the bosses felt really similar to bosses in the first game. I think it's pretty difficult to have a game that involves so many bosses and to have them all be original, though. As long as they manage to have 2-3 bosses that are entirely unique I won't complain.

I don't see you doing it any better, loser.

Nice trolling, that might be because this is the steam forum and not a "design a demon" forum.

Old Iron King just comes off as spectacularly lazy seeing Smelter demon right before-hand who looks amazing with the whole using his body as a furnace to heat the sword up deal.

He looks like Dyabla.

Considering how many DS1 bosses were essentially Demons Souls boss rehashes, DS1 doesn`t get to claim "orginality", nor does anyone get to claim it on its behalf.

^A lot of people haven't played Demon's Souls, and I never really got a rehashy feeling from DS.

I agree on the Old Iron King. Not to mention there was already a big fire demonic armor on the way to him. I also agree on the Congregation being terrible.
DrCookie 7/mai./2014 às 20:46
Wait what ? The congregation was a boss ?

Unfortunately I never got the chance to play Demon's Souls since well, didn't want to bother getting a console. But you do have a point.

Doesn`t change DS1 bosses, ♥♥♥♥, the entire game, being basically "Demons Souls, now no longer Sony exclusive and not as good.".

Compare Old Iron King to Centepede Demon or the Ceaseless Discharge... Both felt more organic and less contrived than that.
