can also get down without ring with enough hp and recover items and if you run into laddersmith gilligan in earthen peak he will move to majula and you can pay him souls to create 3 ladders that vary is size depends on how much you offer him. the 2nd most expensive will unlock the grave of saints area and the most expensive one goes past graves to the next area. grave of saints if optional and the cheapest ladder is pointless.

You have to have around 1k health in order to survive the first fall with the ring. If you don't have that much health currently, it will be a wasted investment.

Oh word of warning, don't try falling on the single support beams (or what ever the hell they are called). I did that and it broke and I fell, felt stupid for trying.

with about 850hp, entirely clotheless (because equipload also gets factored into fall damage) apart from the catring, you can survive the initial fall.

You don't need the ring to get down there, you can just wait till you meet a certain NPC. (the ring definitley still helps though.)

Well actually he also sells boots that lower fall dmg as well.

The ring is just if you want to go there early. I made it down just fine without the ring
