As said earlier, society is getting softer on softer on what's "Mature" material. Something like Manhunt with brutal decapitation, mutilation, and disembowling, is always going to be rated M. But something like Souls, with the majority of the blood being on the environment rather than produced in combat, scorpion tits aside, the game isn't very worthy of a Mature rating.

There's barely anything in any of the Souls games that even "needs" a teen rating...

The combat is basically bloodless, not exactly realistic and against "fantasy" enemies (you barely ever harm another actual human and never in a realistic way). There is no swearing, actual nudity (though the hollows now show no slightly bare ass!) drugs, drink or sexual content (even the naked spider ladies and Gwyndolyn aren't exactly "sexual" they just happen to be naked/large breasted).

If I had a child or something, i'd have no problem showing it to a 9 year old. Younger children if they were able to play it.

Funny thing is, if you look at the detailed list of why it's T, it has the same reasons Dark Souls has for M. So.....dunno.

Guys, ESRB ratings are not really hard science. There are some guidelines but at the end it comes down to the person testing the game and his feelings about it.
