It's heavy attack DOES still do huge amounts of "knockdown damage" though, but the other attacks are normalized.
It's always been an ultragreatsword O.o
As for the topic.
Poise as mentioned, works differently now.
You can stagger people wearing heavy gear with the smallest of weapons such as daggers. So why settle for slower and heavier weapons when you can use faster and lighter weapons that can stagger just as effectivley?
The free aim and tracking is also different.
You can't redirect your attack to the same extent as DS1.
If you're proficient with the Zweihander, i'm pretty sure you've done something like "Attack> redirect attack behind me> catch bs fisher at the end of his roll trying to get behind me"
In DS2, while you can somewhat pull this off, it isn't as effective as it was in DS1.
No penalty to weight.
One of the main reasons why Zwei was popular in DS1 was because of its weight ratio in comparison to other ultragreatswords or heavier weapons in general.
Back then the pvp meta was at Sl120. Hence, there was a trade off between stats. You can't expect to wear the heaviest armor and heaviest weapon and still "fast roll".
Zweihander was, if i'm not mistaken, the lightest of the Ultragreatswords.
Hence you can make a build that could fast roll in medium gear and a few limited pieces of the heavier gear such as giants.
In DS2, there's no level cap. WIth Soul memory as the main matchmaking criteria, there's no point in setting a fixed level. Hence, people use other ultragreatswords or other weapons that are heavier and ofcourse, outperform zweihander.
Thanks man great info ! :)
