Even the final confrontation felt... Strange. Like, the solution for all the plot was just shooting the bad guy ? And the king, who was manipulated for months, just needed to be told "she is bad" and that's it ?
And yes, it feels like everything is okay at the end, the riots etc didn't happen
I'd understand the king being persuaded somewhat easily - he did ask his secret service to make sure she was above board, and had to have some doubts. That being said, it was still definitely too fast of a turn around for him to see her dead body and go "Welp, guess she was evil." I'm guessing that Louis convinced the king off-screen, showing all the evidence that we'd gathered, since Louis didn't really do anything during the final chapter that we saw.
In the last clue-connecting minigame, where the player had to outline the "great plan" Lewis was sent to tell the King about Kayla's plot and her true intentions. Before that, Lewis himself stated that the King was already pretty suspicious about Kayla, moreover, he was the one who told Lewis to keep an eye on her. So the King was socially insecure and a weak leader on the surface, but he is way more cunning and smart than he lets on.
Overall: We are sorry if the last chapter seemed a bit rushed, we didn't mean to make you feel that way. It could have been drawn out and stretched even more - that's for sure, but regardless, the fact that many questions were left unanswered is entirely deliberate. We wanted the end of the game to be shocking and like a slap in the face, and to leave the player with questions that they will be left waiting to answer, or will start to answer themselves with all the hidden hints and clues. Essentially, the detective work doesn't stop at the end of the game: From there on, the players have to continue the investigation themselves. :)
