Can't find places to save (anchor)
Hi,
I'm new to the game, and I'm very frustrated.
every time I want to finish playing and save the game I have to travel for like 3-5 mins.

Am I missing something? This is really stupid and makes me want to stop playing altogether.

Plan ahead i guess. Personally i like saving in stations only so i have to think if i really want to go fight that gaggle of enemies.

I wouldn't say it's stupid. It's something that I like and you can save on all planets and all stations and there are plenty of them. So as john said, just plan 2 minutes ahead.

Majority of today's games have checkpoints and if you stop playing between two checkpoints (and you rarely know when the next one is gonna pop up), you lose all the progress since last one. That's even more restricting.

In SPG2 if you just decided you don't wanna play anymore today, just go to the station and then quit game.

Similar thing is in MMOs where you get to cities/safe zones to log off.

I'm really sorry if that feature is a gamebreaking for you, but I wouldn't like to see it changed, to be honest. The game was made easier a few times now and I'm fine with it, but I don't think it should be made even more easier. It's space game, it's harsh, it's unforgiving. I don't ever wanna see a QuickSave option in SPG2. :)

Roguelikes had "save and exit" like forever and it did not make them any easier, I don't think lacking it is a good thing, makes it easier for developers though :)

All the things you could have legit complained about and this is the one you pick?? 3 to 5 minutes?? Are you not using Power to Engines????? That will get you to the nearest friendly station/planet in like....2 mins tops, if that.

power to engines, speed boost or just a t drive could solve the problem in no time

Click on closest station
Select ANCHOR
Engage PTE
Walk away, get a cup of coffee, take a leak, etc. as the enemies can't touch you when you're in PTE
Return and see the docking menu

For me this is such an annoyance I can't bring myself to play this game again.
This is a single player game, I should be able to exit and save when ever I want.

Forcing me to travel for 2-3 mins and wasting my time is just plain stupid.
Sometime I just want to stop play right now. I don't want to wait counting down the distance to the station and meanshile cursing the developers everytime I want to exit the game.

I also don't want to be forced to travel all the way back to where I were before I wanted to stop playing. Lets say I'm on a mission far away from a station, and I get a call from work or what ever. Having to stop and abondane my progress, and having to wait for 2-3 mins to be able to exit is pure punishment, there is no logic behind it. I'm wasting time, losing progress and I'll have to backtrack to the point I was the next time I play.

Now when I think about playing again I think about the punishment that will await me when I'll have to stop play, and I simply don't play the game at all.

no effense E-128 it takes me 15 mins kitty corner to kitty corner of the map all you goto to do save without crashes is get into a staion and leave quicky to auto save then jump back in to save on what ever save you want no time needed and no graphic card crashes needed simple my friend just like the the gemini point save are part of every dock precedure no time needed as long as you can leave staion your good

No good space exploration game has ever let you save anywhere and everywhere. Freelancer f.ex. functions EXACTLY like this, you can only save in stations/planets, autosave created when jumping to a different system. Freelancer was and still is one of the most highly regarded space exploration/combat sims to have ever been released, with far less modding support provided for the game. It could easily take you upwards from 15 minutes up to 30 minutes to reach a location where you can save, if you were deep in hostile territory and still easily 5-15mins + flying, to just to be able to get to a different system and thus getting an autosave. It doesn't matter if the game was SP or MP, the reasons remain the same. It takes away the sense of exploration and danger, if you're able to save constantly and that detracts from the experience.

My point is: The game isn't at fault here. You simply dislike any and all games that you can't just alt+f4 out of, which is your opinion and you're entitled to it. Just don't expect to find much, if any support at all, from the fans of space exploration games, which this game is.

have you played the first starpoint gemini and in freelancer had you save in station gauranteed saved if saved out side and you loaded it it migh be corrupted i remeber free lancer like it was yesterday but auto saves where my main staple or name saves but this is gemini and you save at sation and their auto saves a really solid this isnt that game you want the game to be like that then show em how to program it this is what they set out play game and be successful dint tell the them how to set the rules trust em in the ability to make their game waster their effort as you noticed frellancer died and no one wants to carry that legendary game forward bat starpoint is also legendary and has its stlyle like or not their style is wicked and i love freelancer but this game a no point should be anywhere near it a new place to play is always better and what other game explorations have you played the best one was made by the old mac what was it called if you can answer that\i will believe in your belief on how space sims should go other than that make the game better not the same as others and keep in mind the auto saves is a game mechanic un corruptable get in planet and or staion leave and renter your game is saved if they made freelancer available i would be there but i am also here for the starpoint gemini all the way no other game is like it except eve but same setup 124 hours to be where your at with gem as well with in staion save prevents game exploitation from weak spacefarers who have to save before every act

Haha, I guess I'm old enough to remember when a punishment was a punishment and not something that happened in a game.

It's a nice mechanic in the game so we actually have to consider our actions.

I hope the Devs don't change it.

I don't want to be able to save all the time, I want to be able to save and exit. Like in the binding of Issac.
