After that well..it's your own choise once you get in to the game.
Gooc luck and safe flight Captain.
After that i get enhancement for Grappler (bigger grappler range = higher speed u can drag ships).
After that its Light/Heavy weapon enhancement, which depends on which weapon type I use at the time.
Then its Shield/Power/Propulsion for survival :)
I opt to get all enhancements for my ship class before upgrading the ship, since you can sell enhancements for full price when you unmount them.
and then the most expensive one for each of the ship systems. it's always the lowest one on the list.
honestly, i don't even bother with any other ship system enhancements anymore, no point really.
why would i spend 100,000 on an enhancement that gives 1 perk when i can spend 150,000 on an enhancement that gives 4 perks INCLUDING the one from the other enhancement.
it's kinda too bad they don't have more variety cause it makes 95% of enhancements useless.
Light weapons: Syntha III
Heavy weapons: Chronos III
Transporter: Watanabe III
Engines: Dynamo III
Power Generator: Pronova III
Shield: Optisoft III
Sensors: PriNet III
Grappler: Nymph III
Hanger: Virelec III
Bolded enhancements are highly recommended. All the others can be mixed and matched according to your preferences/playstyle.
I play as a gunner specializing in railguns. My style of play is to engage at long range while turning to stay out of the enemy's weapon range. The Syntha III enhancement increases the range of my railguns and increases the rate at which my guns recharge. The Optisoft III enhancement increases my overall resistance to all types of weapons (in varying degrees), and the Dynamo III enhancement allows me to turn and manoeuvre more rapidly in order to dodge incoming fire, as well as speed away if I get into trouble. The Watanabe III enhancement increases the amount of troopers I can transport in one instance, as well as providing additional benefits, which increases my overall ability to capture ships more easily.
See this video here if you'd like to see how I fight other capital ships (specifically dreadnoughts and carriers).
Syntha III is all good and well, giving 0.5 Energy Recharge, 0.2 Weapon Range, and a bit of crit...
Artemis III on the other hand has a higher total damage output, giving 0.5 damage and 0.2 Battery recharge rate, resulting in bigger burst, while having enough time to recharge to full, if you are used to turn in 360° circles most the time distributing enemy damage to all sides while burning each battery empty while its facing the enemy.
Regarding Power core:
ProNova III surely is a really great item giving man good bonuses; 0.3 Protection from hacks and total power storage, 0.2 power recharge and chance to retaiate against hacks.
Regen III does not have hack protection, but gives a straigh 0.5 increase to power recharge, which might be much better performance-wise for its main task - assuming the battery recharge is not increased by the total capacity (same time for charging from empty to full vs recharge per second being constant value).
Regarding shields:
Xindu III is worth considering instead of Optisoft III, giving shield strenght, radiation and emp resistance along with marginal transport incursion resistance,
instead of a mix of weapon resistances.
Regarding Sensors:
PriNet III is pretty solid with 0.6 system hp increase and nice hack protection of 0.3.
OmniLink III offers slightly more sensor range, twice detection of cloaked ships, but lacks the HP bonus and hacl protection.
Which to choose depends on playstyle.
Probably Syntha III for staing out of enem weapon range and Xindu III against enviromental damage works nice as a combo.
Whereas Artemis III for max damage goes nicely with Optisoft III soaking up damage in melee.
The later has less style, is more risk gameplay, but does give enemy ships much less time to regenrerate and repair while you would take ages eliminating them with a long range setup.
Your turret slots layouts are also important for decining plastyle and weapon combinations.
If you have 5 light weapons front, 1 in the back, shields possibly distributed at
left, right, top, bottom instead of
left, right, front, back, you might pick weapons according to the spare energy, since you will probably fire at the enemy using our sidewards weapon batteries most the time (you can evade better flying transversal).
Since you cannot fly backwards, using most your guns(front) will more or less close the gap between you and your enemies, which is also worth considering.
Adapt the weapons in the various directions according to the situation and time you will probably be using that 'firing side' mostl in.
Either make the backward turret burst all the cap at once (expecting it to be facing the enemy for the shortest fraction of time), or make it do sustained long range damage (flying away from enemy) or
do sustained medium damage <- which I would recommend, since trying to increase the distance by flying away means ou already got too close anyway. Once you reach enough range, you will probably alter between using broadsides again or front guns.
A nice setup is Syntha III in front, Artemis III on the sides, something with long range and sustained fire in the back - Syntha III for example.
Shogun III is also a nice option, though nobody really appreciates it: it got 3 times the crit chance from Syntha III, which is pretty nice to disable practically any systems on the target ship.
The one that increases range is a big boost to beam weapons
Artemis 3 for your weapons (+50% damage on thoses can never go wrong)
Vega 3 (makes your shields MUCH more tanky though a ship with crap shields won't get much better even if you put that on)
For boarding you're looking at either a Locust 3 or a Datavault 3 (Locust is cheaper and obtainable not too far from Vigo if I remember right)
for engine its either a Dynamo 3 or a Hystream 3 depending on PTE charge time
the rest doesn't exactly matter, though generally speaking expensive crap tends to be good
Speed enhancement doesn't seem to provide a lot of bonus and speed boosters are cheap. improved PTE should serve you better.
if you have a cloak and like it, then get all the power recharge boosts you can from enhancement, officer bonus, and power booster items. Some ships have better power recharge rates but you will probably be chosing ships for other reasons like hull, shield, and weapon number and placement.
Always better to choose a cheap enhancment than no enhancement as you get your money back when you unmount them.
