Do you upgrade ships much?
I've recently moved from a Gunship to a Corvette and aside from the obvius things (Transporter for example), I'm wondering if there is any value in spending credits on enhancements. It feels like the best spend of credits will always be the next ship, because they are always so much better.

Do you spend much on enhancements or leave it for that next big ship purchase?

Enhancements are transfered to your next ship if you trade it in. I buy enhancements for my ships. I recommend at least enchancing weaponry. Transporter is a must for capping of course. Engines are good, shields better.

So before I ramble, yes enhancements are very good and they're pretty cheap all things considered.

as stoc17 says, YES. Range on weapons is a great option. I start to fire 1100k away. Thats a big advantage. BUT as I learned click on the item to see the list of upgrades! Couldn't figure out why I would want more damge on my transporters! lol. also shop around. different stations have different things.

@stoc17
How can you transfer enhancements from one ship to another ?

I upgradet my ship with the best things i saw.
When i want to change the ship (with a better one) i cannot take the upgrades i have and install them into my new ship.

If you buy the new ship and trade the old one enhancements should transfer if I'm not mistaken, but if you store your old in the garage, you have to buy new ones for the new ships. I'm not 100% sure on this, I've been stuck with my Tzar for months. :)

Yes, it works like this.
There is no reason not not buy enhancements. They are super cheap, especially considering the price do not scale to the ship/equipement.

I can tell you exactly how it is.

When you enter a station/planet it gives you the choice to either sell the ship or put it into the personal ship bay.

If i choose to sell it immediatly, they offer me some money (don't do that).

If i choose to put it in the bay i can sell it later on the market.

Why do i do that ?
Becouse a lot of ships i get are smaller than mine and i don't want to fly them.
I loot them while targeted and take all that is in theyr inventory.
And for the reason that a lot of ships have good weapons installed and if i sell it when i enter the station i get the money for the installed weapon/s (but the small price).
With this strategy, i have looted with my starting ship "Taurus" lvl1 a lot of other smaller ships (in count of troops) where i found weapons at lvl3 that i could sell for about 200+k cr.
When i looked at the price they offered me, when i enter the station it was a huge difference.
They offer me about 100+k ... i said "no", i will put the ship in my bay.
Then i go in the bay and change the ship.
Another time i looked at the installed weapons and was surprised what it was ... one Isis3 and one good heavy_weapon.
I uninstalled the weapon/s and take those weapon/s from the ship and stored them.
Then i go back in my bay and change the ship (take the initial one).
Then i can sell the captured ship and i get those 100+k cr.

As for those upgrades ... i started a thread in "suggestion".

Ah I've only upgraded to the one ship and didn't realise there was a trade in option.

The thing is that you have to look at the ship and you know what price it has (sel/buy).
If the station want to give you a huge price, it means that the ship has some good weapons installed.
So it will be better to not sell the ship and store it in the bay.
Then you go to your bay and select the ship.
Then you go to the weapon hub and look what this ship has installed.
You uninstall the weapons and you will see that those are verry good.
Then you go back to your bay and change the ship (with your initial).
Then you can sell the captured ship that is in your bay, you will see that the station will give you much more lesser price as before you take the installed weapons.

The thing is that you will get in short time werry good weapons.
For example:
If you want to buy a "Ripper_III" you have to pay about 2.6 mio. cr..
If you want to sell that weapon you can get ~1 mio. from the station.
And if a captured ship has such a weapon installed, the station will give you that ~1 mio. + the price of the ship.
You think it's a good price for what the station offer, but if you uninstall the weapon before selling the ship, you can spare a lot of money and have a good weapon for free (becouse if you want to have it, you have to buy it, for ~2.6 mio).
At least for the start and the starting 1/4 of the game, you will not have so much money to install and buy all what you want (till about lvl=25 it is harder, after that you get so much money that you don't know what to do with).
