thank you for the interest in our game!
it's tagged with partial controller support since it doesn't support every controller, especially joysticks/HOTAS. I'd say out of all controllers, it works best with Xbox 360/One controllers - today's update added an additional control mode intended for playing with only controllers, and the only 2 controllers which we currently support for that mode are the Xbox controllers. You should be able to do basically everything with the gamepad that you can usually do with a mouse/keyboard.
I won't comment on "how it feels" playing this game using a controller, since i might be biased in that aspect :D
I will say however that the majority of players stated that they currently prefer playing with a mouse+keyboard since the game was originally envisioned to be played in that manner, and we're still improving the controller support as you can see by today's changelog.
Hope this helped :)
Thanks much for your response! I'm sold :-)
you're right - i just tried out and i'm getting the same result.
The problem is that it was intended that you first hit START to open up the menu, then open Fleet, then go to Equipment - it should work just fine this way (it does for me).
EDIT: it might take you longer mounting/unmounting this way, but that's why the game pauses as soon as you first hit START.
By using the keyboard shortcut alongside the controller, some steps are skipped (our mistake) so the panel doesn't seem fully responsive.
Sorry about this, we'll try to fix it in an upcoming update so you're not forced to use the longer route for accessing your equipment :)
you should make sure that your controller is configured properly at Options->Controls (when in control mode Joystick/Gamepad (and keyboard) ). Gamepad controls are listed at the very bottom, make sure that "Show Menu" is binded to your START button
EDIT:
it probably didn't set this up automatically for you as it should since i test it on a wired xbox360 instead of wireless
Could you please send us your log file once you're in the Options menu with the Xbox controller, we should be able to figure out why this is happening and issue a quickfix shortly
this should explain how to send the log file

I dont see why you wouldn't be able to. I have done this for alot of games.
Edit: This thread sold me on the game. thanks for adding controller support.
EDIT: can you also try binding the START key to the last button - BR Button?
