[Question] How to cancel mission select in map without leaving it?
As title: major source of annoyance is clicking on the mission icons to see what they are with no cancel button other than Escape, which then cancels the entire map screen.

Surely you can click a mission but not accept it and still remain on the map? Also, does the range / objectives of missions broaden out / change? At the moment, Science, Patrol, Assassination, Cargo, Rescue, Capture seem to be the only ones - and as with all procedurally generated content, they're a bit boring.

Does the variety increase with level?

Also - am I right in thinking that *all* areas have level scaling? Or is it just in level bands (i.e. System X = level 1-10 etc?).

I detest level scaling with a passion, makes content entirely pointless - if it's global I'll just duck out now. Currently level 6 or so, but if the game remains identical to level 60, well...

Hello Boink :)

With missions there is an Accept or an OK button - OK will cancel out of the mission brief and leave you on the map.

With the tiers of enemies, Different sectors have different levels of AI enemies and friendlies. So say at the begining around Trinity space its from Rank 1 to 10 (ish) that doesnt change, and as you progress into the deep parts of space it can get a tougher with higher Ranked AI.

Also of note until you hit Rank 10 the AI is restricted on skills, Once at Rank 10+ the AI uses all skills it has available, just like a player has access to depending on class chosen - Gunner etc.

Hope that helps :)

Ok, thanks.

Why can't I buy replacements for all other components barring weapons? i.e. while weapons has a long list of possible replacements, I don't have the same for shields / drives etc.

Is this just a first system thing?

With Equipment your able to add enhancements to them to modify them in many ways, More power output, longer range etc. There is quite some customization once you got the credits to do to weapons, Heavey weapons, shields, Grappler, Engines, Transporter, etc.

Under the Drydock panel when docked at a starport you can choose the Enhancement Tab, All stations will have differing range of enhancements for components :)

Yes, I understand the enchancement system (although - do enchancements move to new ships / items?)

So, you cannot buy different shields / drives / sensors etc?

No you can not replace/Upgrade to newer drives, etc. Only use enhancements on them to modify them to your liking along with Officers which can add interesting additional boosts to ship equipment etc.

Sooo... interesting desgin choice there. Kinda one of the biggest features of Space Sims that doesn't exist. I'm presuming that each ship type has different defaults otherwise balance / upgrading would be totally broken (*looks at forum threads about how useless frigates are).

8 (7?) onboard systems that can't be changed.

However, I have found a blueprint for a new grapple (1/5) - is this the way to change the default items on a ship?

Yes, there are many blueprints to collect which will give you unique weapons, or other ship systems. When you clect all parts of a blueprint, it's consumed, but becomes available at most of the stations. Their names are usually in Caps so you will know which one is a blueprint item.
