Side missions? Where? How?

I landed on the first planet and a message told me about new side missions available. But I don't find any button to take me to a listing of quests and stuff while I'm here?

You have to look at starchart (map) for that. Alas, there's no list of available missions ingame, you have to look at the map for that. There is a list of active missions/freelance jobs in captain's log, though.

Side missions become available when you reach a certain level and reputation.
This is not tied to landing anywhere, they are on the starmap like other missions.

Side missions will have a blue icon on starchart, main mission is orange one. If you're playing campaign... If not, you won't see the orange one. But as Geek said, there are prerequisites.
