Survival question bugged or missing something

Trying to cross into c9, needing to use survival now.
I'm trying to join existing survival matches in progress.
When I go to the advanced menu-> survival, any map and/or any map any location locks the checkpoint at 1. I can't change it.

If I select an individual map, (any I've tested, even ones I haven't played in survival) it defaults to wave 46 or 51 or something and I can pick a checkpoint to use.

I can also pick an individual map, and random luck may pop into someone else's ongoing survival. But I have no way of general searching to join ongoing, since no one is at checkpoint 1 search is always empty. (I suppose i could 1 by 1 go through every single map, but that's insanely bad qol menu.

Am I missing something? Do I need to do something to unlock "any map" checkpoint levels for searching ongoing?
Is it bugged?
Or is it just a stupid menu design that makes you go through 1 map at a time to look for a match?

You have to select the Map first (specific Map, not just Region) then and only then can you go back and click the "Survival Checkpoint" buttont to change the survival level.

This is only for making your own game.

If you just want to join someone's game there's no need. Whatever game is avaiable is what will show up. You have no control over what level it is. Not that you need to; you'lre just joining in to leech so the higher the level the better.

yeah there aint that many surivial maps being hosted atm. when i run some survival i usually see jsut one other map in lower waves (like 30ish). 71+ runs are full within a second
