What is the most fun class to start with?
I read a lot and tried the monk, went for all points into defense tower, but monsters just run past them and i can't place enough traps because all other players use too many... so should i build different or just pick another class?

It depends, if you wanna play solo or not, if it's the case squire/apprentice are the 2 class that can build walls to stop monsters from gettin' straight to the core hence the soloing.

If you wanna play only in group I advice you to keep your monk and take huntress as 2nd class so you can synergize with her geyser trap/lightning aura/skyguard tower.. but again 2 class that don't build walls means hard times soloing it depends how you wanna do it !

There is also the fact that you can play each class dps or build oriented. But choose carefully you can only have 4 heroes in your deck so the majority of people have 1 dps hero and 3 builders in their deck so if you can't afford hero slots i advise you to choose carefully what class you plan on playing dps ^^

pretty much this!

I started with apprentice and it helps a lot to level up my monk.
Even if you solo, you can start with lv50 builder, place your tower and switch to your new lowlvl hero. He gets all the XP, but tower keep the strength from your builder.

For solo you must pick either Squire or Apprentice, it's pretty much impossible to solo everything with only Huntress or Monk (unless you do everything on easy...).

I started with Squire, because he was the best builder in DD1 for me. :steammocking:

In groups i have most fun playing as Huntress with Hero build, since i dislike her traps, almost never used them in DD1.

When solo i build with Squire the towers first, sometimes add a few auras from the Monk if i still can place something and then i switch to my Huntress and start the round.
In my first playthrough, i only used Squire.

I know how you feel about traps but currently with the uber coupled with apprentice's frosty power it's the game breaking build atm, outscales the towers really hard into endgame content, and it's kinda sad, but guess we'll have to wait for more ubers, balancing and new content to see that change.

I feel frosty power should just be removed and personally changing to the passive to allow the aoe of the slow to get bigger like senerity auras, allow the passive to make the refresh rate faster, or allow the beam to cast for longer period of time.

40% slows is redic good add that with frosty power is its just stupid easy. Besty nm4 is a joke and we don't even run a 4 man huntress group we just run my dps squire with nm4 spooky axe, 1 monk or mage, 1 huntress for flyers since monk air towers suck penis.
