dmn Patch !
io hope so, after about 20 tries and a good lot of ctrl, alt, del after the launcher loaded iive got on....no idea how, didnt do anything differently
One work-around I've seen players do is delete the .INI files the game creates at run-time. Note that this will clear some of your settings, like keybinds, but you can always re-craft them.
To try this, go to where the game is installed, and navigate to the following directory:
...\Dungeon Defenders 2\DunDef2\UDKGame\Config
Then delete (or cut to a separate folder if you want to back them up in case it doesn't work) all the files that start with UDK. There should be around 14 of them.
Try re-running and see if that has an impact. You'll find the files will re-create themselves once you run the game.
i deleted the whole file in steam folder, then re-download it again, not working
things are getting weirder. ok so i run dd2 as admin, launcher appears, i click play and the game boots to a black screen, if i wait then press ctrl, alt, del as soon as i click end task command and it opens the window to end tasks i hear dd2 playing in the background. open it and it seems to work.
i have a crash screen dumped if this helps you from before but ive no idea how to show you it
Wait all night for patch. Install patch and IMMEDIATELY open the game with high hopes. launcher opens fine, press play. Get the dd2 logo then it crashes but doesn't close out of the dundef.exe (clearly visible in task manager and refuses to force close for some 5 minutes). Trying to open the game again while that exe is still in the process causes it to tell me that my account is already accessing the game then bonks me out. Finally got it closed and tried again. Got a black screen for another 5 minutes then finally it loads in to the server selection splash. Press play in there and immediately get told I'm making too many matchmakings and to cool my jets. Wait the few seconds and try again to end up in a loop of about 8 matchmaking errors before finally seeing the tavern. Upon entering the tavern, I do the usual big patch day stuff. I collect my goodies, roam around and check all the vendors to see what's changed. I notice right away I'm packet lossing hard despite my net being highly stable. I write it off as the server being overloaded because by now its only an hour or so after patch went live and servers came back up. I go to the war table last to check and see whats new there. I go to load into a private game solo to see how hurt my builders got via the passive changes to gauge my necessity to farm before tackling the new maps (since I'd like to actually farm them for the new weapons rather than smash my face against a wall). The game takes this as an invite to dunk me into SOMEONE ELSES premade private tavern. Since I know the other 3 well (and know they are competent nm4 players), I say what the hell, let's just run it together anyhow. None of us are at war table yet I keep getting the annoying "someone in your party would like to join a game" message. I keep clicking join with them. After 5 minutes of that hell it finally loads us into gates. I grab gems and immediately whip out my traps for placement knowing I got everyone else there beat via how often we play together. Immediately before I could even place the first one, poof dropped from server with ANOTHER matchmaking error message. Try getting back into game and receive another 5 more matchmaking errors before finally getting in. By now the packet loss is incredible in tavern. In a fit of rage, I exit out entirely and do an integrity check on the game cache. It redownloads a file (likely something unimportant it'll always redownload even if everythings fine since it seems to grab that file every following time I try checking it). I go to open the game and get stuck in an infinite programming loop... the dreaded black screen of screw you. I force close the exe, get some crash dialog about how about 20 files that exist on my harddrive are suddenly awol. First on the list of course is the exe I literally just forced closed. I laugh at this message, check my folder and see everythings clearly there as I thought. I restart my PC and try again, same problem. Run integrity check 2 and it redownloads the exact file. Try again, same problem. Now furious, I rage out on every person spamming me invites to their matches to knock it off then uninstall the game and reinstalled it hoping for a different outcome that likely wont happen.
Long story short, the dundef.exe is having issues for a whole lot of us atm. If I had to venture a guess, it's likely a driver conflict that was overlooked thanks to PCs having a large range of possible configurations. My next course of action if the reinstall fails is to reinstall graphics drivers (as steam forcefully makes you reinstall directx and the c++ distro packages, so those are covered in a fresh install at least). According to several of my friends playing fine, even just opening the game is a loooong patient wait. My pc apparently isn't patient and I'm starting to lose mine as well. If it is something fixable and findable on your end, I pray you hotfix it tonight as I need my dd2 fix. I'm getting the shakes!
so do you mean we have to wait in the "not responding" status until it gets into the game?
thanks for your tips, i will try it now:D
nope~ not working, wait for 30mins, still "not responding"
It's very curious that compatibility mode fixes the issue. I heard some strange report the other day about disabling Windows Event log via this thread here:

You could try disabling those two processes and see if it has an impact. If it does, maybe that's a clue for us.
As for some of the matchmaking problems you were seeing yesterday, we believe a backend update we did last night should clear those up. Please let me know if you're still seeing this problems, especially if you're still noticing strange packet loss
