Alienware Keyboard Color change bug.
I have a alienware laptop. (Ye I know spare me the hate <3) and everytime I turn on this game it starts radically changing the LED colors and ruins my computer settings. There is no option in dd2 to turn this off and its hella annoying. Even after I turn dd2 off it screws with my LED keyboard settings so much that I have to go back into AlienFX and reconfigure the settings from scratch. I have to do this everytime I boot up in DD2. Is there a way around this? Because the game is near unplayable with a rave party of keyboard lights. Thanks.

Well that's definitely not suppose to happen! I'll pass along the info but if you could please fill out a bug report along with the specific keyboard/computer/laptop you have that would be great(link below). It sounds like maybe certain Alienware keyboards/setups are having some issue because it doesn't do that in the office. Place the bug under gameplay.

Thank you and sorry for all the hassle!

i have it too. however it has helped me in so many ways and the light changes are not random for me:

tavern = yellow
loading screens = white
building phase = blue
combat phase = orange
attacking/or being attacked = flashing red/white
crystal/door being attacked flashes pink
victory = random

especially when you have to tab out to look something up and like after a victory and see you see it go from random, white, then yellow

They are certainly not random, but an implementation we did for AlienFX.

It's possible maybe we went too far with it. The engineer and designer working on the feature were having a lot of fun trying to leverage the AlienFX tech in a cool way.

From what I understand, turning AlienFX off per-application should be pretty straightforward (I haven't tried it myself). If you're not sure how to do it, let me know and I can maybe dig around for you.

I cannot figure out how to turn this off ):

Turning off AlienFX from hitting Fn + AleinFX keys did not stop the lighting

How do I stop these lights?

@Skiddo - I'm not as familiar with AlienFX as a feature, but you should be able to turn them off. You may want to post on Alienware's website, but I'll also flag this thread to someone internally who has a little more experience, see if they have any ideas
Simply right click on the Alienware icon on the taskbar and click the "Disable Alienware AlienFX Events" and uncheck "Enable 3rd Party AlienFX events". I am not sure which of the two or if both are required to disable colour change.
