Splitscreen
ok, what the real problem?
we have this official answer from Trendy:
"TrendyEnt iamisom:
Along with several other developers, we've asked Steam since 2014 to add the ability to use two Steam accounts at once on the same PC. We have the functionality and the UI for 2-player local co-op, and we've been able to deliver local co-op for our PS4 and Xbox One versions. It's been almost 3 years, and we're still waiting for this functionality to come in. We really want this, but unfortunately, it's out of our hands until Steam adds the functionality in."

Sorry, but wtf?
Dungeon Defenders 1 already have this functionality for many years. Yes, its gameplay from 1 steam account, but how many players ask you for playing from 2 other accounts? Mostly there 2 gamers like guy and girlfriend, or father and son, or 2 friends, which dont need 2 steam accounts, they want only fun now and here. There no any problem. Ok, 1 account = x2 characters for play twice!
Trendy, why you still told to us black = white? its not true. It was possible to make dd1 great game for local splitscreen coop and not possible to make dd2 JUST SAME? .....REALLY? STEAM is ok for dd1 and STEAM is bad for dd2? Steam, not you?

Ok fine, here we go:

If they were to implement a single account split screen, it would be different than how the PS4 version works, so they'd be effectively supporting 2 different systems for each platform for no good reason as a band aid because some people can't wait for the game to be developed.

A single account system would bring a ton of issues such as if both players were to not be locked to the same deck, this system could be exploited so that anyone could use splitscreen to technically have a deck of 8 heroes.

So deck would have to be locked, if the deck is locked, and both players use the same heroes, what happens if one of them switches gear? so now you're in a situation where you gotta lock the inventory as well.

You can't allow the 2nd player to get medals, gold, drops or exp, because again this could be exploited by a single person to get double rewards.

So now you got this whole mode that locks the 2nd player into not being able to do much at all, and probably wasted a ton of development into this temporary crappy splitscreen mode that won't even make it to the release version to begin with since they're not planning to do splitscreen this way at all to begin with.

Is this really worth the trouble for a temporary poorly made solution that wasn't intended? Yea, sure, let's stop the team's development for like a month to get on this, and then another month so they can fix all the bugs from it.

offline will never happen, because everything is server sided to prevent hacking (and promoting skin sales)

okay, than dd1 still much better than dd2. Sad. No offline, no local coop, no splitscreen, no comfortable gamepad input (yes, i tested this yesterday). Great job, promoting skin sales rly important
