they may have good damage, but the range kills them.
My only problem are the flying bombers :D
Nimbus are great because they have huge range, and when they're not distracted by other mobs, they cling to the Kobold jealously, ensuring that it takes repeated hits. This in turn makes sure that the kobold never reaches the 'suicide bomb' phase of its health without immediately taking a killing blow right afterward.
Problem there lies with the fact that the Nimbus belongs to a premium class, and you can't assume that everyone has it, with this newest update the PDTs are the only tower in my possession that even has a hope of dealing with them. Really it's the only even worth mentioning anymore lol (although that might have something to do with the game only giving me one tower power shard(no I don't remember it's name), so I need a single tower that can deal with everything)
It's Destruction, and you can farm it on Campaign maps. Just run Harbinger's Warship on Hard for quick wins.
I know, that they get triggered, but they are so fast when triggered, that my anti airs can't handle them because of missing range.
The thing I noticed is, that my Lavamancer walls are so strong, that I don't need many towers for the lanes, I can DPS the mobs down alone, with the walls not letting them through, so I will try to build more towers towards the air-lanes.
It's still sad, that the "real" anti-air towers are now that weak vs air units. Ironic.
I got the needed basic shards (DefPower, DefCritchance, DefCritdmg, DefHP) besides the range one, didn't drop a single one yet, while facing ascension lvl 50.
For my walls, they have 1,6kk base HP and got the shard, which gives them a shield when attacked, forgot the name. So I got time to deal with lane mobs and can build more against flying units. Gonna try that asap, thanks for the idea!
Glad to help. Anti-Glider tactics had me pulling hair until I started studying their mechanics in-depth. Multiple PDTs are probably the most reliable method, provided you know the exact path the fliers will take. Most other towers take too long to 'wind up' before firing - a kobold in a dive will reach its target before it's hit, or even just outrun the incoming projectile outright.
I would suggest Squire Cannons, since they're similarly fast, but without a Deadly Strikes shard, they really lack the range to function as proper anti-air. The Kobold Glider will be way too close and far too likely to splash your defenses even if the cannon can line up a shot before it hits. If you do have spare Deadly Strikes shards, a lot of towers become far more viable for anti-air duty - including the Skyguard, which is what it's supposed to be for to begin with!
*sigh* If only Ramsters had the vertical range that the game shows them having!
