Also, I don't remember the original Castlevania: Symphony of the Night having any crafting or upgrading weapons and armor. Upgrades to Alucard, sure, but not actual weapon/armor stuff.
(obtaining Crissaegrim and hacking him to pieces does not count)
So it's a Metroidvania (my favorite genre!) with a slightly more hack'n'slash -feel to it and more RPG-elements like sidequests and item crafting. And grinding but that's what you can do in CV: SoTN too.
So: If you like SoTN you WILL like this, there's even some jokes about Castlevania in there. You get a "Mysterious Wall Chicken" that looks like the one in Castlevania when you break down stone walls. Always makes me laugh, "mysterious" indeed...
