Dust: An Elysian Tail

Dust: An Elysian Tail

Best voice acting ever heard in an indie
Just wanted to give credit where credit is due for the voice acting. every single character is well done including random npc's but have to say your companion especially seems well done. The script is also well done allowing them to shine so just wanna say well done

I'm on the opposite side of things, I can't stand the voice acting. Really enjoying the gameplay but the voices are so childish I actually just turn them down.
The voices have a sort of Saturday morning cartoon vibe to them, I like it.
I agree with the OP in this thread
Fidget especially is amazing. That character could have came off incredibly annoying but the voice actress who played her did an amazing job and made me like Fidget from the very beginning.

I also agree with the OP in saying the voice acting is great except I'll remove the "in an indie" part as the voice acting in this game is better than most AAA games VA.
I have definitely been enjoying the voice acting. It is far from the best voice actiing in an indie game but it is definitely high quality.
To me nothing beats the Rucks from Bastion and he is the only that speaks in the entire game.
I found fidget voice terrible (fells unatural from voice actor). Others are decent so far
i love fidget i dont see why how she is annoying, must be them furries haters
@Rattlehead
Couldn't agree more ... still voice acting in Dust is excelent and rare these days in my opinion.
I played 2,5h so far and i love this game!

I didn't like the Fidget Voice Work on the 360 version, but oddly enough it sounds much better now that I'm playing with headphones (on the 360 I played with my cheap sound system that got the job done). I usually prefer my stuff over headphones though, as I can hear more elements to the soundtrack, SFX, and voice work that way.

It's definitely rather good and a nice bonus to have with an indie game.

Exactly! Even the character drawings. It's exactly the vibe I got too. I can't remember of the name (and probably because it might not have existed in the US) but I remember a cartoon that had human looking people with rabbit ears like in Dust.

And as for Fidget's annoying level? If you've ever played Lunar, she's not annoying, at all. Here's why (skip to 3:00):

Dunno if I'd say "best" voice over in an independent (Bastion), but it fits the game/style well. Dust himself doesn't sound right, too childish.
I agree that the voice acts are superb. Seems like each them are professional voice actors. The dialogs are very natural, as if they are recorded with the voice actors facing one another to improve interaction. They don't seem like reading a script but really talking to the other person.
I really like dusts voice doesn't sound kiddish at all tbh. He sounds like the hero type. If you want bad and kiddish voice acting go the kingdom hearts series, i like those games but Sora's voice is just terrible and alot of the voice acting sounds stupid.
I for one love Fidgets voice and most of the other voices are pretty great too.

Really great game so far.
