Thanks for sticking up for me, I do really really appreciate it but it can understandably be very frustrating if character/weapon in a game feels completely redundant and unfun whilst playing them.
I'm not sure it is fair to jump to conclusions as I was the fourth person who disagreed with him about the mage being bad and maybe he had enough at this point. It's not nice when you feel dogpiled but I hope he realises that this was not my intention.
I was happy that you responded though as, from my perspective, I did feel slightly ignored somewhat.
I tried to get a mod to work to keep playing it, but I couldn't get it to work for me, I forget the name.
Do you use autoaim? Because I think that autoaim might actually make the game harder if you're using the sapphire wand due to not being able to aim behind the ettins.
The mage has the most mana
The mage never has to melee
The mage has the strongest flechette - I believe
The frost spell is a little crap, but the point is that when you freeze enemies in front, they become deployable cover that protects you from other enemies' fire
The game is kinda trivially easy once you get your arc of death because like half the enemies are melee and the arc of death totally bypasses the centaurs' and heresiarches' shields.
True he doesn't melee but his pew pew stick gets real old real fast
The mage has the lamest flechette the clerics stuns and the Fighters has range the mage just has a delayed bomb
His ultimate weapon doesn't help much because compared to the other 2 it's a major let down
Mage is average for me since he allows you to fight from high distance and spam sapphire wand (laser) on army because it go throught the enemies like a railgun, you can combo a lot of enemies because of that.
Arc of Death on big room/large area can do a massacre and his explosive flechette flask are very effective (timebomb).
I have more difficulty with the cleric because his mace is the weakest first weapon (as powerful as the sapphire wand and is a melee weapon), the serpent staff is not powerful but allow you to regen your life by using it in close range with the absorption effect, Firestorm is very cool on Serpent but usually with the Cleric, it's very hard to fight the Centaur/Slaughter (the ones with shield), if you use serpent staff, it takes a lot of time, if you use the firestorm, because the fire effect after the shoot, they use their shield to be protecte so it's a bit random.
Arc of Death (lighting) of mage can 2 shot a centaur even on space who can break the lighting, random but it works well usually, the Frost hand can be very effective on any enemy but better to use it on enemies who don't throw projectiles, the normal shot is weak, better to use it on flying gargoyle if not you lose all your mana, the best way is to be close like the serpent staff, there will be a direct special full hit who can freeze your enemies and a lot of damage (2 hit like on the centaur).
Also there is a trick with the Flechette (green flask) of the Cleric, if you use a flechette and use the ring of repulsion, it throws the poison gas away and can 1shot one or two centaurs becaue of the effect (dot? no idea).
The 4th weapon of the Cleric is awesome and very destructive but you have to wait a long moment before getting it (not too much too :)
But yeah, the best class is the fighter to fight easily or at least to kill quickly, even fighting the flying Wyvern boss (who shoot fireballs) is very doable with the hammer.
Characters seem balanced in that way, not all the weapons are pure based on power but some need to use tactic and save mana with the first weapon too (cleric ,i prefer the mace to shoot centaur than serpent staff by exemple), if you use a port, there should be some balance patch here or here, not sure.
And yeah, there is a mod who make Hexen, a real rpg mod with level up, awesome competences and more stuff like new monsters and all, it makes it very fun to play with faster actions: "Wrath of Cronos" :

This mod is liked for a lot of people in the community, there is a ton of stuff like item, alchemy to handle and all but you don't need everything and once you know how it works, it's amazing specially with some branchs of competences!
Weapons like Frosthands are far more powerful too :)
Not sure if it's the mod a guy asked for it :v
