By editing the registry path i meant that i've changed the path of the rgss on the proton registry, like on windows.
I think that the only way is trying on a VM.
Download the RPG Maker XP RTP from the official web site at https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/run-time-package
Then install protontricks, on my distro (manjaro) I got this easily by running:
pacman -S protontricks
Then I used proton tricks to install the RTP on the same wine prefix as the app
protontricks-launch --appid 235900 xp_rtp104e.exe
where 235900 is the steam id of RPG Maker XP and xp_rtp104e.exe is the RTP file that I downloaded from rpgmakerweb
I installed in the default location when asked and then I could launch the program as usual
this actually helps, it also works on other arch based distros like cachyOS.
