Anyway, i killed the Loong following this strategy:
Important: keep your distance to avoid his fury attacks, make him only tackle you so you can dodge it easily towards him. When he loses a half of hp he adds to this tackle another tackle you can also dodge towards him. Always keep your distance. When he is waiting for you, use the charged attack you can charge easily. I was using the first charge attack we learned in the game.
1. Let him tackle you to be closer to the middle so you can use the Ghost:
- I used the ghost what increases light attacks - Daoist the ugly madafaka with a stick, I upgraded him a little bit
- Immediately I used the clones, I upgraded them max so they can use spells on their own
With this, I beat him to almost 50% health
2. Charge attacks when he is waiting, remember to keep your distance always. I was not using light attack after point 1 (above).
3. When he is charging up, I use cloud spell and was waiting till he is finished with this pikachu phase
4. Repeat point 2 constantly. It's boring but this was the safest strategy I think.
Essentially, you have to focus on learning when to dodge from the more problem attacks - specifically the giant shell/statue falling on you.
The wind becomes a problem in the last phase, but that's when you should use your transformation (red tides for me).
Invest sparks in some of your stances and immobilize - also, be sure to upgrade some stats via Xu Dog using Mind cores.
What saved me was that I kind of boosted my mana, and had sparks into perks that extended my immobilize, as well as used equipment that helps speed up the cooldown for spells.
The Mist spell is also very useful to get some distance, drink gourd, summon pluck of many, and then still try to get that sneak-attack in while still in mist form.

That all said, yea, if you get the curio from the secret boss, it will make it easier - and yes, the curio will help with other boss fights.

Good luck Destined One, overcome the obstacle.
Like everyone has mentioned, if you do the chapter 2 side quest and get the item, it'll make the final boss significantly easier. Similar item can be found in chapter 4 if you want to have an easier time with the final boss in chapter 4. Same method can be applied for the final optional boss of the game if you're done with chapter 5.
However, if you want to be challenged, you can ignore those items. They're sort of like an optional difficulty settings.
