Onto the final boss!
area too open with not much of anything. obviously with GOTY walls
Supposedly Chapter 6’s area was one of the first developed by Game Science when embarked on this project and this could explain the large empty and non-cohesive world design of chapter 6 and low fidelity assets etc.
Interestingly the low resolution assets for Chapter 6 are extremely unoptimised compared to prior chapters. I played this game on 4090/13900 PC and separately/concurrently on a Legion Go handheld (AMD Z1E APU)… The fidelity and performance of Chapter 6 was laughably bad and almost ruined the entire game for me as up till that point, I was in awe of the game…
And then you are complaining about inv walls and want the game to be open world- imagine all the details streaming in on 128bit cards(yea next gen cards will be 256bit on mid/high range also) while exploring maps 3x size of CH6. Its physically impossible.
You want to play 240Hz games? Go play tetris.
The detail level on temples and statues are movie CGI level, vegetation is beat looking from any game Ive seen.
The leaves arent 2d representation, they look like real leaves from any angle. I cant imagine how much gpu power thet need, and whole CH6 is covered with them(DF also mentioned vegetation arent nanites, so they are not streamed in while getting close. Dunno if its old UE5 or if it will be covered in later UE5 verisons).
But besides that, you have to look at it in context of the story. Yeah it might be lazy by the devs or whatnot but I dunno. Chapter 6 could have been done better but they went with the open world route. It's supposed to be everyone trying to get the 5 relics from you. If you didn't understand the story, that's a different problem.
It's supposed to be the final stretch of your journey leading up to the climax.
Performance wise - I'd say Video Ram is a big factor, or if you are playing on a good NVME M.2 Drive with direct storage. It's why they only allow the cloud in act 6. Everyone complaining should list the settings they are running at. I would guess "Shadows" and "Global Illumination" settings have a massive impact on performance in act 6. Even more so if you have ray tracing on.
