The fire circle is actually surprisingly good.

Went through regular NG not using it outside of the 1 time that it was required for a sidequest. Now I'm on NG+ and switched to it an fully upgraded it and it's actually pretty fantastic. Your health recovers like crazy inside of it, making your nearly invincible. And kinda like some of the item monsters in Monster Hunter it can serve as a small area of continuous healing. Focus also recovers quite fast in it so building up to 3-4 points goes very quickly.

Immobilize is really amazing, but really you can't go wrong with this either. Very fun to use in thrust stance with the NG+ stabby stab weapon that strengthens thrust stance attacks and gives you new/improved combos and moves. Can just charge from inside the circle and take advantage of the big range.

Found it quite useful against the bosses that were resistant or immune to immobilise like ye olde broken shell
