Ma Tianba Side Quest Stuck

So Im currently trying to do the side quest and I have spoken to him in the first 4 chapters. I found the kart his whip is in and try to pull it, nothing happens. I've seen that this is supposed to happen. I then go on to beat the boss required to move the side quest forward, and when I went back to the kart, the whip was gone almost like the quest had been completed. I doubled check every location, made sure I didn't have his transformation. But no. Am I missing something? Did the game bug out? Has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to fix it? Thank you.

If nothing happened the first time you pulled the whip, it most likely means you didn't exhaust his dialogue in one of the previous chapters you see him. If you did it correctly, there should've been some dialogue. If you've beaten the keeper and the whip is gone, it means the quest has failed and he's missed. The only way to fix this is to load a backup save and redo the previous steps again

Huh, that is odd, the boss we are talking about, its the one that is able to call forth a sort of "shadow" that looks like the horse, then you beat that one , right? After that guy, I returned to cart, and Matianba spoke as I was moving in to interact. Then I did the last interaction. Hopefully u just need to progress some more? Or maybe a rest will do it.

Perhaps you had to exhaust more dialogue, then down the boss. NG + i guess, but I hope you can fix it.

I can't find this horse anywhere but his whip is there an I've not fought the keeper of flame mountain yet

the whip is the horse, he is crushed under the cart. You can interact with it to speak w him.

Yeah. Same bug here.
After the bossfight, the whip was still hanging, but was non-interactive.
Then I reloaded my game and the whip is completely gone.

What I do to complete this quest is after finishing the fight with Keeper of the Flaming Mountains and fight Ma Tianba's manifestation during that fight, I go back to take the whip and also inform the Pale-Axe Stalward to move his ass up the hill to fight the next Cart.
