For Astro Bot to win GOTY is like saying Super Mario wonder Deserves GOTY and not Baldurs Gate 3.

Astro Bot is a Mario Ripoff. Sony had flagship platformers like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot for Platformers. Fans to this day enjoy those games. You can make unique platformers If I recall correctly "Hat in Time" got a lot of praise which released in 2017. (PECK)

I'd go as far as to say that Super Mario Wonder at least has multiplayer, and online features when compared to Astro Bot. Not saying Wonder does deserve GOTY but it did win Best Family Game. Makes sense cuz you know "MULTIPLAYER"

WHAT I NOTICED WHICH COMES OFF AS STRANGE>>>
2.4 million people played Black Myth Wu Kong ALL TIME PEAK according to steam charts. Assuming that was during the first 24 hours of it's launch. That's not counting the console releases. And sold more than 20 Million copies between PC and Console.

Astro Bot sold 1.5 million copies since Nov 2024. Okay.

Black Myth Wu Kong released in August 19 of 2024.
Astro Bot released in September 6 of 2024.

a 1 month difference. And Wu Kong sold about 17 million more copies. Compared to Astro Bot's 1.5 million.

Wu Kong broke records (QUOTE) "Black Myth: Wukong has surpassed Elden Ring, Dota 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Counter-Strike 2, and Palworld — all of which hold formidable concurrent player records. The Elephant in the Room that being Sony flexing their intellectual Properties like Warner Bros did with that awful Space Jam 2.

Collecting Robot Sony Owned Characters (ALLEGEDLY) throughout your experience "To showcase the vastness of its entertainment library, often seen as a blatant marketing ploy rather than organic collect-a-thon."

It just comes off as an obvious Sony Flex in the form of a video game. Not that it's a bad thing. Even the Space ship is a PS5 with a disc drive. Not really relevant but Sony got a bit of backlash due to the 700$ price tag for the PS5 Pro, which is barely an upgrade, Stand and Disc Drive sold separately.

To me there is a lot of factoring layers "OBVIOUS ONES" that expresses that while Astro Bot is a good game. I don't think it deserves GOTY. I do however believe Black Myth Wu Kong should win Game of the year. Not just because it had more sales therefore logically should be more favorable. Both are solid games.

When ever I load up my save (Currently 20 hours in and just got to Turtle Island) I keep telling myself as I take in the visuals and jokingly tell myself that this isn't GOTY material. Which is wild to me. Gameplay is challenging specifically the bosses. But that's the whole point of these kinds of games. Let's not forget that the inspiration of Black Myth Wu Kong came from Chinese novel Journey to the West 1592 with the "Monkey King" Oddly enough Dragon Ball was also inspired by Journey to the West.

Wu Kong isn't GOTY material. But a Sony Flexing Mario Clone Astro Bot wins GOTY? I call BS.

It's nothing more than a PR stunt to give something to sony otherwise they'd suffer big-time. So the GOTY awards felt bad and gave it to Astro Bot. a game that only sold 1.5 million copies compared to the over 20 million copies with Black Myth Wu Kong.

Only way for it to make sense is that GOTY gave it to a sony game because of how bad they're struggling.

Wu Kong broke records. And out sold and is leagues better.

You didn't even read my discussion anyways. At least from a logical point of view it doesn't paint a good picture for Sony that a Mario clone won goty out of pity. Only way for them to get out of the concord hole they got themselves into.

I wrote that in less than 2 minutes. I have a PC ya know and a 60% keyboard. Can type fairly fast in little to no time. I am utilizing my teachings from computer class back in early 2000s I was a pc kid back then roaming on forums. Just because I know how to type fast doesn't mean it took me a while to do so nor is it an entire book. I write fast. That's all.

Wukong is a good game, but its fighting mechanics are a bit basic.

Using units sold is such a weak argument and easily discredited with ONE example. The old saying stands, quality over quantity.

I predicted and was hoping for AB to win 1, it’s was a fantastic experience and 2. I knew Metaphor was never gonna win.
